The Guardian of the Farm is the second collaborative brand done by Casa Fernandez and Warped Cigars. Casa Fernandez and Warped Cigars are no strangers to each other. Named for the real-life dogs who guard Aganorsa tobacco (kind of… we’ve met them and they look more interested in napping), this cigar is a collaboration be-tween Aganorsa’s Max Fernández and Warped Cigars’ Kyle Gellis. At 44 ring gauge, the Nicaraguan puro is the thinnest cigar on this year’s list.

Blind Man's Puff · Jun 26, 2017 · August 2016
At last year’s IPCPR show, Casa Fernandez teamed up with Warped cigars again to reveal its latest project called Guardian of the Farm. The line is an homage to the American bulldogs that help guard the AGANORSA farms in Nicaragua. Each of the vitola names correspond to one of the dogs: Campeon (6 x 52), J.J. (5 1/4 x 50), and Apollo Seleccion de Warped (a 6 x 44 lonsdale). It’s a Nicaraguan puro that uses a corojo 99 wrapper from Jalapa, a corojo 99 binder and a filler blend of corojo 99 and criollo 98, sourced from the AGANORSA farms owned by Casa Fernández. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. This release is similar to the prvious years collaboration between the two brands in that each Kyle Gellis of Warped and Max Fernández of AGANORSA, pick a size for the cigar’s release. Guardian of the Farm is being released in two regular production sizes, Campeon (6 x 52, $8.74) and JJ (5 1/4 x 50, $8.50), as well as the limited edition Apollo Selección de Warped (6 x 44, $8).

Halfwheel · Jan 26, 2020 · Dec. 11, 2019
Much like I’m sure Claude is a very good dog, this second iteration of the Guardian of the Farm Claude Le Chien is a very good cigar. Drawing on AGANORSA Leaf tobacco, it has impressive complexity and progression even in this smaller vitola, starting strong and showing that it can evolve and stay interesting until the very final puffs. Each sample came with a bit of irritation to the throat in the second half, something that held it back a bit but nothing that was strong enough to warrant deducting points. The technical performance was problem-free, and with no nicotine buzz to speak of, the finish of each sample had me considering going for another one.

This modern classic takes corojo cigar blending on a 100% Nicaraguan trip. Oh, and that cute puppy on the band? Well, that's one kick-ass bit of a backstory...
