AJ Fernandez Last Call Maduro Flaquitas
Blind Man's Puff · Apr 12, 2019 · November 2016
AJ Fernandez released the Last Call in April of 2016. It was a relatively inexpensive cigar and meant to be an end of the night cigar and came in one vitola, a 4.5″ x 48 “Geniales”. A few months later, they released the maduro version before the IPCPR trade show in that vitola. The original blend used a Ecuador Habano Rosado wrapper while the maduro uses a Nicaraguan-grown Pennsylvania Broadleaf maduro. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. Later that year the company announced that both versions would be getting five more vitolas. Chiquitas 3.5″ x 50, Corticas 4.0″ x 52, Flaquitas 6.0″ x 46, and Pequenas 5.0″ x 46.

The Last Call Maduro was the follow up of the successful Last Call line. The Maduro version was released at 2016’s IPCPR, only a couple of months after the regular hit the shelves. Another couple of months later, both lines received some additional sizes, which brought the single size line, which was the Geniales, up […]

Last Call Maduro by AJ Fernandez Chiquitas
Cigar Aficionado · Feb 1, 2022
Some wrapper extends over the foot of this short plug of a cigar. First puffs are bracing with a zesty, lemon-pepper note that frames a woody core. Lighter hints of orange marmalade, pear and tea add a bit of sweetness.

AJ Fernandez is now a name that just about every cigar smoker knows. However, if you go back ten years, he was far less-known, mostly making cigars for others. Believe it or not, it wasn’t until the mid-2000s that AJ Fernandez bought his first farm. In 2012, AJ Fernandez built the state-of-the-art cigar factory he now occupies in Estelí, Nicaragua. For years AJ Fernandez produced multiple lines of cigars for large catalog companies, Rocky Patel, and various other brands. Fernandez broke onto the scene with his own line when he released San Lotano in 2011.Read full review on Holt's Staff Reviews
