In the spirit of friendship, I will be honest. There are A.J. Fernández collaborations that I enjoy far better than this cigar. I find this blend to be an anomaly of sorts. The stark contrast of the smoking experience from the beginning to end is perplexing. But far more interesting is the flavor components being just, well, strange. Flavor is subjective, let’s remember, and I will say that I found the flavors interesting, but indeed perplexing.

The Hoyo de Monterrey HOYO La Amistad Black Rothschild is unbalanced and dominated by almost overwhelming pepper, until the final third where it's dominated by almost overwhelming earth. I don't have the requisite tobacco experience to determine whether the issue is with the tobacco, or the blending, but my experience tells me that the tobacco wasn't ready when the cigar was produced.
