The spicy, woody notes of this cigar meld pleasantly with hints of sweetness that segue into a graham cracker finish. The cigar draws and burns evenly throughout.

Blind Man's Puff · Jan 29, 2018 · February 2017
La Aurora announced the ADN Dominicano in February of 2017. This is the first blend from La Aurora to use the Andullo tobacco. Using this type of tobacco, La Aurora pays tribute to the oldest Dominican tobacco process and although little known today is deeply ingrained as an essential part of the Dominican Republic ‘s tobacco culture and its processing practices for hundreds of years. Today we are reviewing the La Aurora ADN Dominicano Robusto. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. Andullo is used in this blend as a whole leaf in the filler. Andullo is a hard-to-work tobacco that is unique in cigar making; its strength, inspiring aroma and sweetness, combined with a well-balanced blend provides a completely exceptional smoking experience. It is available in 4 vitoals: Churchill (7 X 47), Gran Toro (6×58), Robusto (5 X 50), Toro (5 3/4 X 54).

Halfwheel · Sep 2, 2017 · February 2017
I am a sucker for a cigar with a good back story, and the La Aurora ADN Dominicano delivers in that regard. The first third is excellent, with complexity, balance and well-integrated strength, but the profile starts to diminish noticeably after the halfway point. In fact, the milk chocolate sweetness is quite pervasive during the first third, and while it does become less distant rapidly after that—leading to noticeable drop in complexity, particularly in the final third—it is still present enough to identify. I am not sure you can tell specifically that andullo tobacco was used, but even with the issues in the final third, it is worth tracking down to try for yourself.

Sweet via ZERO bar* with a tangy warmly spiced kicker which balances well. Some sharp white pepper extends from there to growing finish. Cream. Vanilla bean. Savory oils mount. Coffee dark roasted but still more sweet than bitter w/ a bunch of raw sugar additions. Could be smoother, could be rounder. Performance is excellent, particularly draw & burn-line. *"The ZERO candy bar, introduced in 1920, is a candy bar composed of a combination of caramel, peanut and almond nougat covered with a layer

La Aurora ADN Dominicana shows some great potential, with the final review sample producing a delicious array of flavors, but the overall score reflects construction issues and lackluster flavors as the suspected result of requiring additional humidor time and dry-boxing. While I couldn’t point to a specific instance of the Andullo in appearance or flavors, I do believe there to be some unique nuances present in this blend. I’d love to sample these again after a year in the humidor.

The cigar started off not how I expected with a wave of strength and some very full flavors. I enjoyed it, especially as it smoothed out fairly quickly. The first third was the best and then became less complex in each subsequent third. The La Aurora ADN Dominicano is a good example of what a cigar that uses andullo can do and I'm thinking this might do well for La Aurora.
