La Palina Bronze Label TAA 2017

Halfwheel · Jan 29, 2019 · May 13, 2017

After over a year in the humidor, the La Palina Bronze Label TAA 2017 continues to impress, maybe even more so than it did when first smoked, though to borrow from my original review, it still feels like it's lacking the symphony despite having seemingly all the instruments. There's sweetness, spice, pepper, earth and woods, yet it feels more like listening to each section play in pairs rather than everything coming together into true cohesion. That said, it's still well ahead of what it seems most cigars tend to offer both in quantity and quality of flavors. I feel like I have to disclaimer the extremely earthy finish of the final third as I know it's not everyone's favorite flavor but it works for me until it's time to put the cigar down. I can't speak to any differences between the TAA-banded version and the regular production toro other than time; either way I'd recommend picking some up for what should be an enjoyable and flavorful experience.

La Palina Bronze Label Robusto

CigarsLover Magazine · Mar 28, 2020

La Palina Cigars are produced both in the USA, Honduras and Nicaragua. In the case of the La Palina Bronze Label Robusto, production takes place in Honduras, at the El Paraiso factory. Aesthetically, it is dressed in an oily Colorado Maduro shaded wrapper, with reddish refelctions. It is silky to the touch. Filling […]

La Palina Bronze Label Toro

Cigar Aficionado · Oct 1, 2019

This richly hued cigar burns evenly, delivering notes of charred oak amidst the earthy, straw-and-hay qualities of a barnyard. Touches of licorice and clove spice up the smoke.

La Palina Bronze Label Robusto

Cigar Dojo · Oct 10, 2018

Let’s do a quick history lesson. Back to when I started smoking cigars, there were a LOT more Honduran cigars dominating the market. Until 1990, there was an embargo against the country of Nicaragua, similar to Cuba. Also, the Sandinista government of the time had essentially ended growth of tobacco for cigars, instead focusing on tobacco growth for more lucrative cigarette tobacco. Even after the embargo ended, it took some time for Nicaragua’s cigar industry to get rolling again (sorry for the pun). During the late '80s and early '90s, there were practically no Nicaraguan cigars in the United States, and Honduran cigars were a pretty big deal back then. This cigar is a good reminder of what Honduras can offer the modern cigar smoker. As an added bonus, lookout for the odd-ball anomaly within this lineup where, every once in a while, you may be treated to a truly fantastic experience. This, unfortunately, is an outlier to the average La Palina Bronze Label experience.

La Palina Bronze Label Robusto

Developing Palates · Feb 25, 2019 · February 2018

In the instance of the La Palina Bronze Label Robusto, I was surprised especially by the minerals. In general, the flavors of minerals, dry red peppers, natural sweet creaminess off dried nuts was range I didn't expect and worked well. The only let down was the subpar burn in which I hope it is a one off situation. I'll gladly smoke it again even if I have to fight the burn.
