A bit rustic in appearance, this long, thin, dark cigar draws evenly, imparting a spicy, leathery smoke with sweet hints of chocolate and caramel. Notes of espresso and earth emerge as well.

The cigar had three, solid, individual parts - each with its own character and its own flavors. It is bigger than most lanceros in both flavor and in size (40 vs the usual 38) and was a fun smoking experience. The L40 accompanies the Único line in becoming a unicorn of sorts, and it's hard not to let some of that create a bias in me. If I am totally partial, there isn’t a huge difference in flavor profile from the T52 to the L40, and it seems to me to be more or less a limited release with a different size. This small swap, however, did turn an already fantastic blend into an even more interesting take. It is a dynamite cigar worth your time, but it doesn’t totally live up to the hype in my opinion - this is not to say I didn’t love every second of this cigar, it’s just not worth selling a kidney for...
