Don Pepin Garcia Vintage cigars debuted in 2023 as an exclusive blend for the Tobacconists’ Association of America (TAA), a small group of retailers who pool their buying power together. In 2024, the DPG Vintage blend was released to stores nationally, and today I’m reviewing it in a 5-by-54 Robusto. Don Pepin Garcia cigars are named for the family patriarch of My Father Cigars, José ‘Pepin’ Garcia, aka Pepin. Before My Father became the world-famous brand it is today, Don Pepin Garcia was the first brand Pepin launched after arriving in Miami from Cuba in the early 2000s.

The Don Pepin - Vintage Edition comes out of the gates swinging with big, clean and crisp flavors and doesn't let up for nearly the entire length of the cigar, something that might seem like a challenge to the senses but ends up working quite well. While it's not a cigar I'd be likely to recommend to a novice smoker, this is certainly right up the alley of an experienced palate that likes a cigar that brings a lot to the table. I can't say that it's the most detailed or nuanced cigar I've ever smoked, and it's one that will show off a wide range of the flavor wheel, but what it does offer, it offers incredibly well. For a full-flavored treat for the palate, the Don Pepin - Vintage Edition is definitely worth picking up.

This Don Pepin Vintage Edition Toro was an enjoayble Nicaraguan puro, and a great Corojo '99 release. I am going to be honest, I looked at this and compared it against any AGANORSA Corojo '99 release. I will be honest, it is superior to any AGANORSA Corojo '99 release. My Father is back and appears to be taking on the Nicaraguan puro market again. I like the Don Pepin reference with the name.
