If a rich, earthy, and fairly full-bodied cigar with a lively, peppery retrohale sounds appealing, the Rocky Patel Year of the Dragon Toro has the chops to deliver. As someone who finds these kinds of profiles enjoyable, I was quite impressed by the first two cigars, and while the third didn't quite reach the bar set by the first two, it still hit most of the same notes, and managed to keep the liveliness of the retrohale, which serves an important role to contrast the flavor without detracting from it. On the whole, construction was quite good if not perfect in terms of combustion, but only one cigar reached a point where I considered myself frustrated. This is a very enjoyable limited edition cigar that doesn't need a new year's celebration to merit lighting up.
