Davidoff Diademas Finas is constructed from an assortment of Davidoff's own Dominican-grown tobaccos, highlighted by selections from an exceptional 2005 harvest. The final product is rolled in Davidoff's signature Diademas Finas vitola—the same size used for the famed original Davidoff Diademas Finas from 2006. Packaging aside (which is predictably stunning, highly recommended for collectors), the cigars smoke with a brilliant complexity worthy of their hefty price point. After a somewhat slow beginning, long-lasting flavors emerge, showing salted butter, vanilla, custard, flowers, biscuits, and the cigar's "it factor" flavor (in my opinion) of rich, sweet cappuccino coffee. Refined and deliberate from start to finish, Diademas Finas caters to nuanced complexity over strength or brash flavor; it's a stunning ride of evolutionary flavor.

Davidoff is one of, arguably the most divisive brand outside of Habanos S.A. A large part of it has to come with the company’s prices; its blending style—which is distinct—adds to the divisiveness. I’ve long believed there are certain blends quintessentially Davidoff, certain ones potentially only made possible by Kelner and Eladio Diaz, Diademas Finas is that. It’s not mild, it’s not pedestrian, I don't even think its that overpriced. Certain cigars deserve their hype and then some, this is certainly on that list.

2018 is the 50th Anniversary of Davidoff Cigars. To celebrate this Davidoff re-released the Diademas Finas, which was first out in 2006 which would have been Zino Davidoff ‘s 100th birthday. This limited edition is rolled in four vitolas, each with it’s own porcelain jar. Each jar is numbered and has it’s own humidification device. Each jar is it’s own art design, created by French artist Mariane Léger. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. The Diademas Finas uses with an Ecuadorean Habano wrapper, Dominican Olor Seco binder, and an all-Dominican blend of filler tobaccos. The is available at select appointed merchants and Davidoff Flagship Stores from July 2018. Production is limited to 8000 jars worldwide.

Today I’m smoking a Davidoff Aniversario No. 3, a creamy and mild 6-by-50 Toro that’s packaged in an elegant white tube. Davidoff has long been considered the “Rolls-Royce” of cigar brands. Only select “Davidoff-appointed” merchants can carry the brand’s exclusive White Label cigars, and with that exclusivity comes a price. Davidoff cigars are among the most expensive you’ll encounter in retail stores, but the brand prides itself in its consistency and reputation.

This Davidoff Aniversario No. 1 Limited Edition was a nice Double Corona. From beginning to end it had my attention with the flavors delivered and it’s balance. Nice level of complexity. Not much transitioning, but you don't find that a lot with Davidoff. It did have that solid and fairly complex core flavor profile however, and the peanut butter notes were enjoyable. The combination of spices with that made for a nice touch on the finish.
