The price point is not great, but Davidoff made a mistake. This should have been a White Label. It wouldn’t really fit into the already-gigantic Davidoff portfolio, except on one quality, the cigar tastes really good. If you like the complexity you can find in flavors from Davidoff White Label, but are annoyed that there is usually very little nicotine, this could be an answer, although it’s still not that strong. Some of my favorite Zino Platinum releases have been stronger and less linear, but none have been this complex.

The Zino Platinum Scepter Stout cigar by Davidoff is made with a blend of Dominican and Peruvian filler tobaccos, a Connecticut binder, and an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper. The cigar has a torpedo shape and measures seven inches in length with a ring gauge of 52. These cigars can be purchased in boxes of 12 for just under $200, which averages out to around $16.50 per stick. Expect to pay about $55 for a 3-pack, and close to $20 for a single cigar. The tapered/pointed head of this torpedo cigar is unusually long. After cutting off about half an inch prior to lighting up, there was roughly 6½ inches of cigar remaining before I took the first puff. Right from the start, the cigar's easy and effortless draw made almost as much of an impression as the flavors. The draw provided a generous amount of smoke, as the cigar burned quickly and evenly. No relights nor touch-ups were needed during the 60 minutes that it took me to smoke the sample cigar down to two inches remaining. The Zino Platinum Stout cigar was barely medium bodied, bordering on mild-to-medium. The initial peppery and spicy flavors were very modest, and quickly faded as nutty and woodsy tastes emerged, with just a hint of spice remaining in the background. These flavors remained pretty consistent throughout the majority of the smoke. Although not very complex, the flavor was still very enjoyable and the cigar was really smooth. If it wasn't for the cigar's relatively high price, I would rate the Zino Platinum Stout with a superior 4.25 points on a 5-point scale. However, after considering the value factor, a slightly lower but still very good rating of 4 points might be more appropriate.

The Zino Platinum Exclusive Series Washington D.C. was a great cigar and all the Zino Platinum Exclusive Series smokes have been. It is complex and balanced throughout and it has a nice body and strength level with the flavors. The cherry and oak qualities were lovely, and the pairing between those and the musty wood were quite enjoyable.
