As I mentioned in my original review, I have never been a huge fan of the original Norteño line, but the Edición Limitada is a whole different ball of wax. Seven months of rest has been good to this blend, rounding off the edges that were present, and bringing a significant increase in the sweetness that is present in the profile, reminding me strongly of raisins. In addition, there is a very interesting oatmeal note at the forefront that was not in the original profile, a flavor that really bumps up the complexity overall. A great cigar that seems to have plenty of legs left, and one that I will be enjoying again in the future.

There aren’t many stories in the cigar business like Willy Herrera’s. When he became Drew Estate’s master blender, the company was already a staple with well-known calling card brands. He still managed to carve out a space for himself and build his reputation with his own style, of which Norteño is a fantastic expression.

Earth. Potting soil. It's the core and the overtone. Picture a woman laying on her side. Picture her breasts. Now just picture one. See the nipple? Earth. Potting soil. Undertones: black & cayenne pepper, sharp cedar, sarsparilla, Mr. Goodbar -- all of that -- mingling in the booby below. Somewhat lacking delineation. Very strong. Very. Strength is well on ahead of body & lesser-so, flavor. Burns on a cruise-control razor-line. Draws superbly smooth. Smoke-bomb! Room-note is sweet dark 'baccy --

This new cigar was displayed in Drew Estate ‘s booth (Booth #15407) at the 2015 IPCPR Tradeshow in New Orleans, LA. This was one that all four of us were excited to try so we decided not to wait for a blind review, and tell you what we think right away. The new Herrera Estelí Norteño Edicion Limitada will be presented in a 7×48 Parejo Prensado Churchill vitola and will be packaged in 15-count boxes. The “ Norteño ” blend showcases extensively aged tobaccos from the Estelí and Jalapa growing regions of Nicaragua, coupled with a spicy Honduran binder and a rich, bold Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper. The MSRP will be $14.00, and the cigars will ship to Drew Diplomat Retailer Program stores beginning in September 2015. It is easy to see why people get excited about releases, particularly Herrera Esteli products. They’re damn good! I see this as the yang to the yin that is the Herrera Esteli from last year. My only concern is the price. I would like to see this closer to $10 but that is my preference. Obviously, they are having no trouble selling them at the MSRP so my thoughts are only relevant to me. Despite that, I highly recommend getting one or more if you get the chance. I don’t think you will be disappointed!
