Drew Estate ACID 20
Blind Man's Puff · Aug 21, 2019
This year is the 20th anniversary of the ACID brand. In celebration of that mark, Drew Estate released a 20th anniversary cigar: ACID 20. The cigar comes in one size, a box-pressed robusto 5 x 52. It’s presented in chrome boxes of 20 cigars and was shown off at IPCPR 2019. The blend of the ACID 20 uses Mexican San Andres wrapper, Indonesian binder, and fillers from Nicaragua. The infusion details of the cigar were not disclosed but described as “truly unique, and worthy of the double decade title.” The boxes sell for $230.40 and ships in September.Read full review on Blind Man's Puff

In 1999, Drew Estate unleashed ACID cigars onto an unsuspecting premium cigar world, bridging old-world tobacco traditions to new-world innovation with iconic taste and style … placing Brooklyn, New York, onto the premium cigar map with distinction. The groundbreaking ACID became the tip of the spear for Drew Estate’s rise from a homegrown nasty little Read more about Cigar Review: Drew Estate ACID 20 Connecticut Toro – Rated 94[…]

In 2019, Drew Estate celebrated the 20 years of the ACID cigar brand. As many know, ACID is Drew Estate’s signature line of infused cigars. The launch of the ACID brand not only laid the foundation for Drew Estate cigars, but it would lay the foundation for Drew Estate as a premium cigar and tobacco […] Key flavors: Mocha (Coffee, Chocolate), Licorice, Earth, White Pepper, Artificial Sweetener (Sweetened Tip).

While I don’t smoke that many ACIDs, this is one of the few times when I really felt like the flavoring was entirely on the tip. Normally, I find that even if the tip is sweetened, the rest of the cigar still has some signs of infusion. But with the ACID 20 Connecticut Toro, the sweetness was only added when I licked my lips or if my tongue touched the top of the cigar, and that created a pretty unique smoking experience. In a way, it’s like drinking a margarita with a salted rim—I could oftentimes pick whether or not I wanted the added flavor and how much. While I scored this cigar as basically a middle ground between the two options, I think it’s worth pointing out that if you want to, you can make this a pretty pedestrian cigar. Outside of the infusion, the rest of the cigar was one of the most consistent, linear and ho hum profiles I’ve smoked in quite some time. But when that was mixed with the sweetness—particularly in the first half—it changed a lot. I think the ACID 20 Connecticut is a great blend to give to someone who is not a regular cigar smoker and wants the infusion, but maybe doesn’t want the chocolate or coffee infusion that other cigars provide. If I had to pick an ACID, I’d probably reach for something a bit more dynamic.

Cigar Dojo · Sep 10, 2019
It's great to see the ACID brand all grown up. From the look to the deeper flavor qualities, KUBA ARTE better bridges the gap between traditional and non-traditional palates. Differing from past ACID blends, I felt that the profile could more easily be identified; whether it be traditional flavors such as clove, vegetation, and natural tobacco, or less traditional characteristics such as peach, raspberry tea, and menthol. The sweetened tip was a bit too much, in my opinion, and the fruity profile unfortunately transitioned straight into blackened territory. That being said, KUBA ARTE performed admirably (especially from the perspective of a traditionally geared palate), presenting one of the best infused smoking experiences I've come across. Fans of cigars in this category should be more than thrilled—in this case, it becomes a no-brainer purchase recommendation.

For today’s staff review, I am stepping outside of my comfort zone for an eye-opening, olfactory tour de force as I detour into a floral landscape of potpourri, lilac, herbs, and botanicals that could rival a blast of Febreze to the face. This is the first staff review I’ve conducted where I had to procure a cigar from quarantine. No, the cigars aren’t infected or contagious. Quite the contrary, they’re infused. So instead of selecting my cigars from the general population, they were retrieved from solitary confinement.Read full review on Holt's Staff Reviews
ACID 20
Developing Palates · Dec 6, 2019 · August 2019
This may sound crazy, but I truly believe the infused releases to honor 20 years of ACID are some of the best new cigars released this year. The ACID 20 smoked great in terms of draw and burn, and when I was done smoking I was happy with the experience. There was no level of disappointment, but pure enjoyment. Consistent, well made, flavorful and fun.
