RoMa Craft Tobac showed off a new extension to he Neanderthal line at IPCPR 2019: Neanderthal LH. Skip Martin says this is the company’s strongest cigar. The LH stands for Lord Humungous. The Neanderthal LH is a double robusto box-pressed that measures 4 3/4 x 56. The blend uses the same components of the rest of the line including a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, Connecticut broadleaf binder and Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Pennsylvanian filler. It uses a full leaf of Green River Sucker One ligero from Pennsylvania which is much more than the standard line. The Neanderthal LH costs $15 a stick and comes in 15-count boxes. Production is only 22,500 total cigars per year. The cigar just hit shelves this month.

Failed game-changers become novelties. This is not, I believe, a failure. It is artisan moonshine. Most notable is both Maduro and Ligero are done their rightful and proper justice herein. Pairings : I daresay it don't need it. That stated, whatever you like, but make it strong. Strong like bull. Opera fit well. Big Italian guys screaming, fits nicely. G Rossini, "The Barber of Seville" was a blast. Pavarotti really knocks Figaro out of the park. But whatta I know?

The Neanderthal is a truly unique cigar every connoisseur should have in their prized selection. It’s bold, it’s tasty, and it’s one of the best maduros I have ever had. The $12 price tag may scare away some of the budget smokers, but that may be for the best. The Neanderthal deserves to be taken seriously, and has the right to be enjoyed by serious smokers around the world.

It’s a shame that at least for now, the Neanderthal HoxD isn’t available on its own, simply to give more ready access to this little flavor bomb of a cigar. That said, 10 sticks from RoMa Craft Tobac in a sampler that gives you access to the company's five core lines for just over $60 before taxes is a hard deal to pass up, and the HoxD only sweetens the deal. To borrow from the name of the ligero that gives this stick its potent strength, you’d have to be a sucker not to try one, especially if you’re a fan of full bodied, full flavored cigars.

The RoMa Craft Neanderthal LH is a fantastic size and takes the line to a higher level. Even if you have been a fan of the Neanderthal line, you need to understand that this vitola is an improvement. It lets you get that great filler blend with the larger ring gauge and the pressing really helps the wrapper and the smoking experience.
