The resurrected La Palina cigar brand has been on the market for only three years, but the brand has delivered several memorable cigars; this is the second year in a row a La Palina has placed on our Top 25. The La Palina Classic Toro comes from the PDR Factory in the Dominican Republic, which continues to impress us with its smokes. Made with a Brazilian wrapper grown from Havana seed, the cigar is considerably nutty, bright and tangy, with a light chocolate finish. The cigar is a bargain, especially among La Palinas, and this La Palina Classic brand is the least expensive cigar line produced by the company.

The La Palina Classic line has been around since IPCPR 2012. It was the first La Palina rolled in the Dominican Republic and is one of the company’s value-focused lines. Originally the line was made at the PDR factory, but was revamped in 2017 with the addition of some new wrapper variations and is now rolled at General Cigar ‘s General Cigar Dominicana. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. The Classic line now includes Natural, Rosado, Connecticut, and Maduro. All come in four sizes: Double Corona (7.5″x50), Robusto (5.0″x50), Short Robusto (4.5″x50), and Toro (6.0″x54). The blend for the Natural uses a Honduran Habano Oscuro wrapper, Honduran binder, and fillers from Dominican Republic Honduras, and Nicaragua. Price ranges from $6.50 to $7.99.

burn-line After a Bic-flicking correction of potential canoe outta the gate, there is a self-settling at the end of the 1/3 and on-out. Perfection ain't achieved, humsoever, as slight ribboning does occur hither-thither. ash Forms in loosely aerated medium-dark grey mottled clumps which only once makes to an inch of build. draw Smooth even pulls are a high-light of this La Palina Classic Rosado. 'Tis a bit open for my liking, at the left-side of a medium tension, but still quite nice a delivery.
