Other than a few prominent veins, the wrapper here is attractive and clean. It draws and burns evenly, starting herbal and bland. As it warms, it becomes creamy with notes of vanilla bean, toast and slate.

Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 is a mellow Honduran handmade finished in a silky Connecticut Shade wrapper, and today I’m smoking a 5.5-by-50 Robusto to give you the rundown on why this is a sensible box to toss in your coolerdor during the summertime. Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 debuted back in 2006 and was blended to introduce Rocky Patel cigars to beginners and fans of milder blends. The Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 Connecticut Toro had an average flavor profile throughout, focused around toasted cedar, hay and dry earth. It was a smooth smoking experience. While I wouldn't see coming back to this cigar frequently, it's an easy smoking experience with an attractive price point, so I could see smoking it from time to time.
