Villiger San’Doro Claro Toro Revisited
Blind Man's Puff · Jun 14, 2017 · July 2015
Villiger Cigars launched the Villiger San’Doro line at the 2015 IPCPR Trade Show in New Orleans. The San’Doro line was launched in three blends: San’Doro Claro, San’Doro Colorado, and San’Doro Maduro. San’Doro is positioned as a premium regular production offering in the Villiger product line. The San’Doro name pays homage to the times of Christopher Columbus. The name San’Doro is actually derived from “Indorum Sana Sancta” which translates to “Sacred Herb of India”. During the time of Columbus’ expeditions, many thought he had found the route to India and when tobacco was brought back, it was referred to as “Indorum Sana Sancta”. The San’Doro Claro and San’Doro Colorado are offered in a Robusto, Toro, and Churchill format in 20 count boxes. The San’Doro Claro features an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler and is rolled at Tabacalera Oliva in Esteli, Nicaragua.

Many protruding veins cover the wrapper of this blond cigar, which delivers a creamy smoke. Grassy and oaky to start, it picks up some sweetness and intensity, with notes of caramel, cocoa and coconut.

Holt's Staff Reviews · Aug 24, 2026
Today I’m smoking Villiger San’Doro Claro, a basic, mellow smoke handcrafted at the Villiger factory in Nicaragua. To evaluate this blend, I’m smoking a standard 6-by-50 Toro. Thanks to recurring discounts from your friends at Holt’s, Villiger cigars have carved out a consistent niche among budget-conscious smokers and volume buyers. You’re probably not popping a bottle of Champagne to sip with a Villiger cigar, but they taste great any time with an everyman beer. Founded in 1888, the Swiss-based Villiger brand is best known for its machine-made cigarillos, such as Villiger Export.Read full review on Holt's Staff Reviews
