Room 101 Farce Nicaragua Toro

Stogie Press · Apr 22, 2023

For those that follow Room 101 and Matt Booth, you know that his Room 101 Cigar brand was acquired by General Cigar Co. in June of 2022. It took only 5 months after the Acquisition, for General to start shipping the 4th rendition of the Room 101 Farce known as the Farce Nicaragua. Room101 Farce | Cigar Review Redux by Kaplowitz

Kaplowitz · Jul 18, 2019

BOOM. Black pepper up-front. Yet refrained 'nuff to allow anise and molasses to peek out brightly from underneath. Maple wood, buckwheat pancakes, dark tropical floral bits -- all emerge as BOOM dials back but too, stays present. Spoiler alert: it rears back up in the 3/3. Undertones are a high up fudge braced by coffee beans. All in a very darkly toasted manner but not inky, per se. Underbelly is a grapefruit thing sending rays upward from a leathery compost barnyard bottom. Spiced cream body a

Room101 Farce Nicaragua Robusto

Halfwheel · Mar 19, 2023 · November 2022

Flavorful, spicy and superbly well-constructed, the Room101 Farce Nicaragua has quite a few things going for it that makes it an extremely enjoyable blend. The profile shifts from main flavors of anise and espresso beans in the first two thirds to gritty earth in the final third, but the amount of cotton candy sweetness and black pepper that is present on the retrohale remains fairly constant. Having said all of that, the combination of close to full strength, overt spice and black pepper does become slightly overwhelming in the final third. I would love to do a Redux review in a year or so to see if that sweetness I sense lurking in the blend has a chance to evolve, but as it stands now the Room101 Farce Nicaragua is a great choice if you are looking to try a stronger, full-flavored cigar with excellent construction all around.

Room 101 Farce

CigarCzars · Jun 13, 2019

After a short break from the cigar industry, Matt Booth and Room 101 cigars returned in 2018 with the new Farce cigar. Room 101 Farce cigars are made in Dominican Republic with Ecuadorian wrappers, Indonesian binders, and a blend of filler tobaccos from Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Pennsylvania. The cigars are available in several sizes, including a Robusto (5 x 52) priced at $10.90 per stick, which was sampled for this review. It is noted that the Lonsdale (6½ x 42) size received a 94 rating in the May/June 2019 edition ofCigar Aficionado. I smoked two Farce Robustos, more than a couple of months apart. I enjoyed the first one more than the second (which is not always the case), but both wereat leastvery good cigars. More time in a humidor usually improves a cigar, but not always. Also, it is not unusual for two cigars from the same batch to smoke and/or taste a bit differently. After lighting up, the initial flavor of pepper and sweet spice tamed down as the taste and texture of the smoke became very mellow and smooth, with leather, nuts and a bit of spice being the most recognizable flavors. The cigars were medium-to-full bodied, gradually edging up within that range the longer I continued to smoke them. Both Room 101 Farce cigars were very well made, had great draws, even burns and held a long ash. No touch-ups nor relights were needed during the 45 to 50 minutes that it took me to smoke them down to two inches remaining. I didn't taste any ginger molasses nor maple-cured bacon in either cigar, but I did enjoy them enough to rate the first sample with a superior 4.25 points, and the second with a very good 4 points on a 5-point scale. The bottom line is that Room 101 Farce Robustos are very good to superior cigars.Booth is back!
