Aganorsa Leaf Aniversario Connecticut

It’s difficult for a Connecticut shade covered cigar to climb into the Top 5. In fact, it has happened just twice in the history of our list and one of them was the predecessor to this blend, the Aganorsa Connecticut. That cigar took our panel by surprise in 2020 and scored 93 points, placing 4th in the Top 25. This year the Aganorsa Leaf Aniversario Connecticut matched that score but jumped to 3 rd with its impeccably balanced combination of sweet cedar, toasted cashews, smooth pepper, and cin

There’s so much pseudoscience about cigars and to be clear, I’ve contributed to that library. One of the most obviously dispelled ones has been that the darkness of the wrapper corresponds to strength. Similarly, there seems to be a belief that stronger cigars will age well, something I’ve found to be even more untrue than the wrapper-to-strength thesis. There’s also a belief that cigars will get milder as they age. The AGANORSA Leaf Aniversario Connecticut Gran Robusto is here to disprove all of that. This was a pretty strong cigar when fresh and 18 months later, it still packs a heavier punch than most cigars on sale in a humidor. For many of our readers, this is a great cigar to keep around when you want a change of pace, albeit a different sort of change. Much like how you can take a sweeter liquor like rum and produce a sour cocktail, the pairing of Connecticut-seed wrapper and stronger fillers is an interesting math equation. It’s not entirely what I’d expect, but also not surprising. I found the cigar to be more flavorful than the notes from my original review would suggest, but not overly so.
