Blind Man's Puff · Dec 20, 2021 · September 2021
Davidoff Cigars came out with the third version of their collaborative cigar with chefs in September of 2021, the Davidoff Chefs Edition 2021. The chefs chosen for this years cigar were four world renowned chefs: Norbert Niederkofler* (co-owner Food Space & Restaurant AlpiNN, Italy), Juan Amador (Amador Restaurant, Vienna), Masa Takayama (Masa, New York City) and Jorge Vallejo (Quintonil, Mexico City). The Master Chefs along with Davidoff ‘s Master Blenders settled on a 7 x 48 Churchill size for this version. They released a description of how they believe the cigar should smoke: “a taste journey that starts with a rich creaminess supported by notes of pepper and cedar wood. During the second third, gentle floral notes start to develop while hints of cinnamon and coffee are weaved into the progressing sensory experience. During the last third of the elegant Churchill format, the flavour profile changes into a pleasing caramel taste combined with cacao and the reoccurrence of cedar notes from the beginning.” The blend for the Davidoff Chefs Edition 2021 uses and Ecuadorian Hybrid 238 wrapper, Mexican Negro San Andreas Seco binder, and four different fillers Piloto Seco, San Vicente Ligero, Piloto Visus and Hybrid 192 Seco from Dominican Republic. It comes packaged in ceramic boxes of 10 that can double as an ash tray with a lid that is to be used as the serving tray. Only 9,700 boxes were made.

Prior to the ProCigar 2016, Davidoff kicked off its initial Tour Gastromique – a culinary and cigar event held at Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic. At that event, Davidoff – The Chefs Edition cigar was unveiled. As the name indicates, the cigar bridges into the area of culinary arts. For the Davidoff Chefs Edition, six […]

I definitely have a love/hate relationship with Davidoff White Label releases: when they are "on fleek," they are excellent, but then there are some that I have not cared for. Thankfully, The Davidoff Chefs Edition is one of the former, and although I picked up that mushroom flavor here and there throughout the smoke, it was never close to strong enough to negatively affect the overall profile. In fact, the combination of distinct flavors, ever-changing sweetness, wonderful construction and excellent balance makes this one of the best cigars I have smoked this year. Yes, it is expensive, but well worth it for when you want to indulge on a great cigar.

Davidoff Chefs Edition 2021
Cigar Dojo · Mar 8, 2022
The Davidoff Chefs Edition 2021 is the fourth release in this series, featuring the collaboration of Michelin-starred Chefs from around the world in the blending process. The 2021 edition showcases a new blend and size, as well as impressive upscale packaging. Despite an initial snug draw, the cigar begins with an enjoyable, creamy smoke. Transitions abound, including unique flavors of raw Spanish peanuts, malty funk, and a Highland Scotch similarity. The smoke doesn't let up into the final moments, offering a long burn time and a maintenance-free experience throughout.

Earth and leather are at the heart of this sandy-hued toro, which shows some notes of almond shell and a bit of chalkiness before the gritty finish. The combustion remains even, though the draw is inconsistent.

Developing Palates · Dec 12, 2018 · September 2018
The Davidoff Chefs Edition 50th Anniversary is a great cigar and a fantastic use of Yamasa tobacco in the filler blend and wrapper. It is complex in flavor profiles being delivered and with that is some depth and transitioning. As to be expected, Davidoff created a well constructed cigar with high quality tobacco to make for a great smoking experience.
