Espinosa Laranja Reserva Escuro

Cigar Snob · Jan 22, 2021

The Espinosa Laranja Reserva Escuro is a cigar that unanimously wowed our panel every time we tasted it. This impeccably box-pressed maduro was put through the blind-tasting wringer over and over, and it rose to the top each time. The cigar hits home on every level, delivering a perfectly balanced combination of espresso and dark chocolate notes countered by smooth spice and earth, all held together by a sweet, creamy background flavor. The voluminous smoke output is thick and heavy with rich a

Espinosa Laranja Reserva Escuro

Kaplowitz · Mar 5, 2020

Dark Chocolate | Baking spices | Cuban coffee. Dark chocolate, richly. Fully. An accompanying fudge brownie. Nutmeg, cloves, & cinnamon are as much on the pleasantly pungent body as they are in its flavor. Thick. Dense. Girthy. Molasses seems churned out from a natty 'baccy & roastedly-so. Mingles ::: very ::: w/ The composted earth middlings. In there is some anise, a bit of red/purple fruit syrup ebbs & flows. Holding it all up from its nethers is more earthiness... topsoil. A potting soil. Ma

Espinosa Laranja Reserva Caixa

Cigar Coop · Oct 21, 2015

The Espinosa Laranja Reserva Caixa is a new line extension to Espinosa Cigars’ Laranja Reserva line. The Laranja Reserva was a line introduced by Espinosa at the 2014 IPCPR Trade Show. Espinosa Laranja Reserva Escuro Toro

Blind Man's Puff · Jan 27, 2020 · April 2019

In April of last year, Espinosa Premium Cigars a line extension to their Laranja Reserva line, Laranja Reserva Escuro. The new cigar was teased at their annual La Zona Palooza event in 2018 but wasn’t officially released until April. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. Escuro is the Portuguese equivalent of Oscuro in Spanish, meaning “dark.” The Escuro blend uses a Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper replacing the Brazilian Laranja wrapper on the original. It is box-pressed and uses Nicaraguan binder and fillers. It comes in 10- count boxes and in three sizes: Corona Larga (6 x 46), Robusto Grande (5-1/2 x 56), and a Toro (6 x 52). The cigar is rolled at AJ Fernandez’s San Lotano Factory in Ocotal, Nicaragua.

Espinosa Laranja Reserva Azulejo Robusto Grande

Cigar Aficionado · Apr 1, 2022

A box-pressed toro with a dark, silky wrapper and lopsided cap. The excellent draw and burn deliver an interesting medley of mocha, nuts, black cherry and clove.

Espinosa Laranja Reserva Azulejo Robusto Grande

Halfwheel · Nov 15, 2021 · September 2021

With the exception of the second sample I smoked—which started with a manageable amount of toastiness—it’s really tough to look past the first 10 minutes of the Laranja Reserva Azulejo Robusto Grande. I’m not sure the issue is actually the toastiness, but rather it shows a common theme I found, the flavor profile gets rather unbalanced at times and doesn’t recover to a place that is much beyond okay. And while my lasting memory of the cigar will be the burnt flavors, I think an equal amount of criticism can be levied on the cigar when it’s not too toasty, not too salty or not too spicy. Those profiles—the in-between places—aren’t anything special and because of that, I can’t justify the unbalanced parts of the profile. As someone that has always boasted about the Laranja, this blend is a disappointment.

Espinosa Laranja Reserva Azulejo Toro

Developing Palates · Jan 31, 2022 · October 2021

The Espinosa Laranja Reserva Azulejo Toro took me all over the flavor intensity map, starting with a medium-full experience and leading all the way down to light-plus and nuanced. I would smoke the Laranja Reserva Azulejo Toro again as this cigar falls directly into my wheelhouse. If you're a fan of more intense pepper or spice notes, this might be a good choice for you too.
