White ginger | White pepper | Cream Cream by the dollops. Luxuriant & sultry in a blonde manner. Marilyn Monroe singing to JFK. Light acting darkly. Innocence acting seductively. It's quickly evident from inspecting the ~eccj~ that the cigar is masterfully rolled—this becomes a certainty after lighting, as the cigar showcases a perfect draw, sturdy ash, and no touchups whatsoever from start to finish. These qualities can turn even a boring cigar into an enjoyable smoking experience, but when they are paired with a complex profile such as ~eccj~, it becomes a near masterpiece for Illusione—without a doubt, their best blend to date, in my opinion.

I was not expecting the same cigar ~eccj~ 20th to be the same cigar as the ~eccj~—they are different blends, after all—but after smoking four of them for this review, I am a bit surprised at how close to the overall feel of the profile of the original the new one exhibits. Having said that, there are some significant differences between the two: the new version has significantly more spice on both the retrohale and the palate than the original, and also features more floral notes than 2008 version when fresh. Construction was excellent all around and smoke production was well above average with a strength that was noticeable, but played well the rest of the profile. A superbly blended, excellently balanced flavor bomb of a cigar, and I have no doubt they will age extremely well.

There was depth, complexity and transitioning, and that took place from start to finish. It was balanced and simply a beautiful cigar. Yes, the burn was far from beautiful, but when you have a cigar that smokes like this and tastes great, who cares. The Illusione ~eccj~ 25th is a great release from 2019 and I am not surprised that Illusione delivers another gem to the market.
