There is a bronze sheen to the oily wrapper of this well-constructed robusto. A lush draw and excellent combustion combine for a bold smoke full of espresso, hickory, black pepper, nuts and cocoa powder. The long finish smacks of barbecue.

Oak | Mocha | Spices Crisply lip-smacking. Weighty & bright w/ excellent depths. Oaky af and complexly-so, a sweet citrus addition there, as well as a buttery-flaky pastry thing. Vegetal nuances in a lush savory manner. White & black peppercorns gear up via progression. A mocha latte. Leathery oils. Big & bold and also introspective somehow. Gregarious while polite. The finish is a palate dampening moderate+ legged primary extension. Undertones are sweet-sour earthen notes... barnyard and grain

The Illusione Cruzado Marelas Supremas was great back when I first reviewed it and it is great now. I love the vitola, the cap, the presentation and most importantly, the combination of cedar, espresso, creamy nuts and raisin sweetness flavors that are present. While not what I could consider extremely complex, the profile changed enough during the smoking of the cigar to keep me on my toes and the retrohale is quite smooth, even with the pepper that is present. Easily one of my favorite Cruzado vitolas and in the top ten of Illusione releases for me.
