My Father Cigars Blue
The García family's first Honduran release (2025): a Connecticut Broadleaf Rosado wrapper over a Honduran binder and Honduran Corojo and Criollo fillers. Not the Nicaraguan Don Pepin Garcia Original, whose blue band it shares a nickname with.

My Father Cigars Blue 2025 Toro

The story of My Father Cigars is a quintessentially American tale. José “Pepín” García began rolling cigars at a young age in the small Cuban town of Báez, eventually becoming one of Cuba’s most decorated cigar rollers before fleeing the dictatorship in 2001. Two years later, he opened a tiny factory in Miami’s Little Havana with his children, Jaime and Janny. Today, My Father Cigars produces an estimated 24 million cigars annually and is a perennial fixture on our Top 25 list. In the last 10 y

I’ve been a big fan of My Father cigars as long as I’ve been smoking. Today, I’m excited to try the all-new My Father Blue in a 6-by-54 box-pressed Toro, the first cigar produced at the new Honduran cigar factory that José ‘Pepin’ Garcia and his son, Jaime Garcia, opened in 2025. My Father Blue is blended from Honduran binder and filler tobaccos that the Garcias grow on their 1000-acre Honduran farm, called Finca La Opulencia, in the country’s Talanga region, about two hours from Danlí. The cigars come in four classic sizes and are finished in an oily, brown Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper.Read full review on Holt's Staff Reviews
My Father Blue Robusto
Kaplowitz · Oct 20, 2025
Cocoa Powder | Soft Cedar | Dusty Spices A departure for My Father, in terms of both geography and palate. Comparatively a rather sedate, non-transitional Honduran profile. Irish Butter melts into a subtle spice melange with slight vegetal lilt. A bit-baggy coffee. Silty Earth minerality. Well-trained delivery. Draw starts a bit reluctantly but quite-quickly mends. Burn waves un-egregiously but notably throughout. Ash builds well, a tick dryly-so. You know those foggy days that are deceptively b

A softly-pressed grande with an open draw and even burn. Its sturdy chocolate character is accompanied by notes of ginger, coconut, wood and dried herbs.

It’s pretty rare for a cigar company so established in one country to enter a second country, and having two do it—look out Arturo Fuente Nicaragua—in the span of a year makes for an incredibly interesting time for the industry. It would be foolish to make any broad statements about the García’s Honduran operation after just three cigars. However, there are few—if any—new-for-2025 cigars I’ve been as interested in smoking as the My Father Blue. What I found was a cigar that showed lots of hallmarks of My Father, but also a base that is decidedly different. While My Father has made earthy cigars before, this one was less aggressive than a release like Le Bijou, which is a blend I would consider more earth-forward. I'm curious to see what comes next, especially if Ashton and Tatuaje—major clients of My Father's Nicaraguan factory—start to get their own Honduran blends. Regardless, this is a good cigar, and a good start for the new factory.

As the first cigar to emerge from the Garcías’ new Honduran operation, My Father Blue feels like the start of something meaningful. The blend captures the familiar My Father DNA—earth and pepper—but through a noticeably different lens. There’s intrigue in how the Honduran tobacco interacts with the family’s signature style, showing flashes of kefir-like cream, campfire, and roasted nuts in the early stretches. The second half loses a bit of its direction, burning faster than expected and requiring a few too many touchups, yet the framework is solid. It’s the kind of debut that feels less like a polished statement and more like a promising demo. If this is the foundation for what’s to come from My Father Cigars Honduras, I’m following with cautious optimism.

I really enjoyed the My Father Blue Robusto, and it is a blend I have returned to many times since released. It is a balanced blend, and I love how the Honduran tobacco smokes with the CT Broadleaf wrapper. My Father does so much with Nicaraguan tobacco that it is interesting to see how they blend with Honduran tobacco while also using a wrapper they know how to use very well. Lovely Connecticut Broadleaf, fun new release when looking at the blend and who produced the cigar, and a nice addition for My Father.
