I’ve been a big fan of My Father cigars as long as I’ve been smoking. Today, I’m excited to try the all-new My Father Blue in a 6-by-54 box-pressed Toro, the first cigar produced at the new Honduran cigar factory that José ‘Pepin’ Garcia and his son, Jaime Garcia, opened in 2025. My Father Blue is blended from Honduran binder and filler tobaccos that the Garcias grow on their 1000-acre Honduran farm, called Finca La Opulencia, in the country’s Talanga region, about two hours from Danlí. The cigars come in four classic sizes and are finished in an oily, brown Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper.

When these were first released in 2007, they were quite strong. The pepper seemed to overwhelm quite a bit of the nuances that were present, especially in the first third, much like the Firecracker . Well, I am here to tell you that three years of aging have done wonders to this blend. It is hard to quantify in words the complexity and refinement that you taste in this cigar, although I did give it my best, of course. Whether it is because of the aging, or the different blend, or a combination of the two, the DPG Puff ‘N’ Stuff Release is without a doubt the best Blue Label I have ever tasted, and I am just glad that I have half a box left. These will become one of my sticks to enjoy when I know exactly what I am looking for.

As the first cigar to emerge from the Garcías’ new Honduran operation, My Father Blue feels like the start of something meaningful. The blend captures the familiar My Father DNA—earth and pepper—but through a noticeably different lens. There’s intrigue in how the Honduran tobacco interacts with the family’s signature style, showing flashes of kefir-like cream, campfire, and roasted nuts in the early stretches. The second half loses a bit of its direction, burning faster than expected and requiring a few too many touchups, yet the framework is solid. It’s the kind of debut that feels less like a polished statement and more like a promising demo. If this is the foundation for what’s to come from My Father Cigars Honduras, I’m following with cautious optimism.

I really enjoyed the My Father Blue Robusto, and it is a blend I have returned to many times since released. It is a balanced blend, and I love how the Honduran tobacco smokes with the CT Broadleaf wrapper. My Father does so much with Nicaraguan tobacco that it is interesting to see how they blend with Honduran tobacco while also using a wrapper they know how to use very well. Lovely Connecticut Broadleaf, fun new release when looking at the blend and who produced the cigar, and a nice addition for My Father.
