I Buttery smooth of mitt and mouf. A singular zaftig vein catches the eye but not the char nor fingers. Heckuva even draw and burn-line. White pepper then black-some through the schnoz. Accompanying piquancies are a nutmeg/clove red melange. Sweet cream braced by salted/toasted almonds. A flavorful 'baccy core. II Almonds churn out then put forward complexities spawning coffee bean turned diner joe; oak-cum-cedar. On far end a' finish a refreshing minty cayenne hits tongue-tip. Buckwheat honey,

I am always on the lookout for a great Connecticut-wrapped blend, and although the Gilberto Reserva Blanc Corona is not in the top tier by any means, it does easily hold its own. While not overly complex, the profile has more than enough flavors to satisfy, the construction is fantastic overall and as a bonus, it is also extremely well-balanced. Yes, there are better Connecticut-wrapped blends on the market, but the Gilberto Reserva Blanc Corona is a very nice choice for just about any time of the day, especially considering the price point.

The Sumatran version of this cigar is really pretty good, particularly for the price, despite sharing this cigar’s lack of filler. Unfortunately, this didn’t translate as a creamier, milder version of that cigar. Instead, it gives me reason to ponder the age-old debate on just how much flavor is derived from the wrapper vs. the filler. But then, this didn’t have much of what I’d expect from a Connie once I’d smoked past the first third (which absolutely flew by). Instead, it was mostly a ho-hum cigar, with occasional moments of pretty good, and a majority of moments of not-so-great. All throughout this review, I referred, again and again, to the Sumatran version of this blend, which I’ll do one final time. My recommendation, smoke the aforementioned Gilberto Reserva and leave this one on the shelf when you’re at your local B&M.

I can't believe the Oliva Gilberto Reserva Blanc Corona is sub $6. The cigar easily smokes like twice that amount. I'd pin point this to the more traditional side of Connecticut Shade due to the dominantly creamy, sweet, nutty aspects. That, followed up with emphasized minerals, cedar and tannins all points to a Connecticut Shade done right. Best value cigar no doubt.
