Oscar Valladares debuted the Super Fly the 2019 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show. The company says this is the strongest blend in their line. This is also the first time they have used Dominican tobacco. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. The blend uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, binder from Copan, Honduras, and fillers from the Dominican Republic, Honduras and Nicaragua. It comes in three sizes: Corona (5 1/4 x 45) – $9.00, Toro (6 x 54) – $10.50, and Super Gordo (6 1/2 x 60) – $11.50. This cigar is a regular production cigar.

Oscar Valladares Super Fly Super Corona

With its inky-dark, lumpy appearance, this slim cigar resembles a twig, but draws and burns evenly. A cola-like combination of orange peel, vanilla and cinnamon notes punctuate the core of chocolate and dried fruit.

The time between my original review and now has been very good to this cigar. The cloying sweetness and unfocused profile that held back the blend five years ago is gone, replaced by a more approachable and significantly more balanced experience that allows more individual flavors to shine at different points. I am always looking for super unique blends that are well-constructed and easy to smoke, and the aged version of the Oscar Valladares Super Fly Connecticut hits all of those points nicely.

Oscar Valladares Super Fly Connecticut Corona

I liked the Oscar Valladares Super Fly Connecticut. This is a great Honduran Connecticut wrapper. I thought the cigar was released in a great size and it delivered a solid flavor profile with transitioning taking place throughout. It had a nice body and strength level, construction was great, and priced really well. I would definitely come back to these and recommend them to many.
