Aside from the occasional limited release, Partagas Legend marks the most luxurious offering in the Partagas lineup. Using some of the most significant tobacco types that have helped to solidify Partagas as one of the world's most purchased brands, the Legend honors Partagas' history and those that have contributed most greatly along the way. Partagas Legend begins with a blast of flavor, hitting the palate with a much darker profile than the cigar's uncharacteristically light wrapper would suggest. Standout flavors include campfire s'mores, wild herbs, and whiskey punch, pairing with an overall medium-plus body to make for a fun experience that near-any smoker should be able to connect with. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite perform at the level suggested by its premium price tag, lacking a deeper level of complexity that enthusiasts begin to demand in the luxury tier (taking into account the cigar's small size).

Partagas releaesd one new cigar at the 2018 IPCPR show, the Partagas Legend. It pays tribute to five important men in the brand’s history. The Partagas Legend is in honor of: Jaime Partagás, Ramon Cifuentes, Edgar Cullman Sr., Daniel Nunez and Benji Menendez. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. The cigar uses tobacco that represent that brand and those men. It uses a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, Honduran Olanco San Agustin binder and aged Dominican piloto cubano fillers. It is available in three, all come in 20-count boxes. The score that the Partagas Legend Fabuloso Leyenda will get is inevitably going to be hurt by the tight draw of the first sample and what it seemed to do both to the flavor and my general impression of it. In a bit of a Goldilocks syndrome, each of the three samples offered a slightly different take on the blend, with the third sample standing above the other two in terms of enjoyment, balance and complexity. I’d love to see the bite of the pepper toned down a bit, as it provides enough of an adverse sensation to skew the overall impression of the cigar. While a bit flawed, the Partagas Legend Fabuloso Leyenda is still an enjoyable cigar.

Partagas Legend cigars are made by General Cigar in Dominican Republic with deeply aged Dominican fillers, Honduran binders, and Connecticut Broadleaf wrappers. The cigars were released in July 2018, and are available in three box pressed sizes, including a Toro (6¼ x 54) priced at $14.49 per stick, which was sampled for this review. For more information about these cigars, please check out thepress release. The Partagas Legend Toro Leyenda began as a medium bodied and smooth cigar having very good natural tobacco flavors along with some subtle spices. No other obvious flavors jumped out at me, as this cigar was more about the texture of the smoke, which was smooth as silk. After about 20 minutes, I detected a mild tea-like flavor, but again, not really any full nor easily distinguishable in-your-face flavors, other than the natural tobacco tastes. The smoke was elegant and sophisticated, and there were never any traces of sourness nor bitterness, and no bad aftertastes. I cannot imagine anyone finding anything to dislike about this cigar, although the flavors may not be appreciable enough to actually delight some discriminating connoisseurs. However, the Partagas Legend would be a very good celebratory cigar for most mainstream cigar smokers, and would go very well with a nice glass of champagne. The Partagas Legend Toro had a very good draw, held a nice long ash, and had an even burn. I did apply one minor touch-up light to keep the burn perfectly even, at about the 50-minute mark. It took me approximately 90 minutes to smoke these Toro sized cigars down to two inches remaining. After initially considering giving this cigar a lower rating, I eventually realized as I continued smoking that the Partagas Legend was actually a very good cigar made with top quality tobaccos. What the smoke may have lacked in its degree of discernible flavors was made up for by its very smooth texture that is worthy of recognition. All considered, I rate the Partagas Legend with a very good 4 points on a 5-point scale.

The Partagas Legend Corona Extra Leyenda is an enjoyable smoking experience. With a complex flavor profile of cream, chocolate, leather, pepper, baking spices and loamy earth. I particularly enjoyed the vitola, and found the soft square press very comfortable.
