Alas, our shipment of the new Perdomo 30th Anniversary cigars has arrived, and today I’m smoking a Perdomo 30th Anniversary Connecticut in a chunky, soft box-pressed 6-by-54 Epicure! Brand founder Nick Perdomo has actually been waiting to release his 30th Anniversary series for a couple of years but had to postpone their debut due to packaging delays during the pandemic. As a result, the cigars have been aging even longer than initially anticipated, giving them ever smoother taste and aroma. Let’s light up Nick’s latest masterpiece pronto.

For a cigar company to celebrate a 30th anniversary is a major milestone. Looking back to where Nick started the company, it is hard to believe he and his wife Janine started the company, Nick’s Cigars back in 1992 in their garage while Nick worked a full-time job as an air traffic controller.

The three Perdomo 30th Anniversary Connecticut Epicure cigars I smoked for this review were remarkably consistent: all three started out sweet and creamy for the first half, all three needed two corrections around the halfway point and all three lost some of the aforementioned creaminess and sweetness while gaining an increasing amount of strength and body in the final third. Main flavors include peanuts, leather, oak, and hay, while the sweetness on the retrohale shifts from banana in the first third to rich milk chocolate in the final two thirds, all of which combine to make this cigar an enjoyable addition to Perdomo’s lineup.

The Perdomo 30th Anniversary Connecticut Robusto had a nice flavor profile through the first two thirds with good balance and flavor delivery. The final third dropped a level as some wood bitterness joined in and the black pepper became very light. This is a pretty nice Connecticut shade offering and definitely a step up from the Maduro for me. The price point is attractive and I'd be interested in trying some of the other vitolas.
