This belicoso is topped with a slightly crooked cap. First puffs are sweet, followed by notes of vanilla bean, molasses and brown sugar that come together for a fruitcake effect before a tangy finish. Although the draw remains open, the burn is inconsistent.

Imbalanced toward citrus as in its Robusto iteration [see FURTHER KM. READING below] although more warmly evolving into roasted orange maturity here. Clover honey. Vanilla bean white/pink peppercorns. Yeasty-doughy. Chamomile toastiness, clay earthiness. PS: eating Lemonhead candies on the beach in second-half.

The Villiger Cuéllar Caribe Robusto is not a bad cigar, but it does have some bad moments. While the flavor intensity is generally full, the flavors seem very delicate, able to shift from enjoyable to unenjoyable very quickly. Other than that there were more apt to show up in the second third, I never really figured out what the cigar needed to avoid the occasional puffs that were too sour or bitter. Unfortunately for Villiger, the present-day market for new cigars means these three cigars are below average, quite frankly, below Villiger’s own average for its new products and far from being in the same league as the TAA Exclusive 2021.

If I were to dissect the Villiger Cuéllar Caribe Robusto into compartmentalized flavors, I love the flavors of buttery sweetness, mixed fruit gum candy and baking spices. But factoring in all the flavors and textures as a whole, it misses the mark. The overwhelming mouth caking of stale leather and cedar is not enjoyable and does the good flavors a disservice. I'll pass on this blend.
