Warped Cigars Corto
A concentrated flavor bomb designed for cooler evenings and shorter interludes, Corto is handcrafted at TABSA in Estelí, Nicaragua. Wrapped in an oily Jalapa Corojo '99 leaf over estate Criollo '98 binder and fillers, this box-pressed short robusto delivers an unapologetic full-bodied smoke loaded with dark cocoa, charred oak, rich coffee, and damp earth.

Corto from Warped Cigars first came to market in 2015 in a single size that measured only 4 1/2 inches long. Corto means “short” in Spanish and owner Kyle Gellis never intended this to be a large cigar, but consumers kept clamoring for a longer Corto and he finally gave in. Last year, he released Corto in the X52 size—just a little bit longer and a little bit thicker, but still on the shorter side. The blend remained the same, consisting of a Corojo ’99 wrapper and binder, and a filler combination of Criollo ’98 and Corojo ’99 tobacco all grown by Aganorsa Leaf in Nicaragua.

Kyle Gellis is a true ‘Wizard of Tobacco’. I’m not sure what that means, but that should be his title. This man knows how to produce a product for the craft smoker, and he isn’t slowing down. Some may (and have) argued that he has released too many blends too quickly for such a young brand, but I wholeheartedly disagree. All of his blends are superb, and deserve a place on the Warped mantle—and a place in your humidor. Each one is unique and offers something for everyone, and I would post them up against any other brand in the industry.

Just prior to the 2015 IPCPR Trade Show, Warped Cigars announced the Warped Corto line. Corto became the fourth line that Warped Cigars would produce at Casa Fernandez’s Tabacos Valle de Jalapa S.A. (TABSA) factory. The name Corto translates to “Short” and is described as the most “full-bodied” blend by Warped Cigars to date. Warped […]
