The Fuente Casa Cuba Doble Seis has received a decent amount of praise from some, but I think its long delay in coming to the market may have killed some of the buzz surrounding it.  Nonetheless, I have heard several people give it rave reviews.  Personally, I don’t see it.   If this is what cigars used to be (and it is kind of like some I smoked in the 90’s) then I am glad things have changed. And they have, for the better in my opinion.  Knowing that the Fuente brand has several excellent cigars on the market, I am disappointed by this one.  However, the market needs to be diverse, just like

One phrase that didn't enter my mind about the Casa Cuba until I read Carlito Fuente's words about it is “old fashioned.” It certainly doesn't have the profile of many modern cigars, though I think you'd be hard pressed to put your finger on exactly what that means unless you have been smoking cigars for a long time and could remember what cigars from a bygone era taste like. It doesn't have the up-front spice that so many modern cigars have, and in some ways is a bit simpler than many modern cigars that seem to be chasing complexity in their blends. That's not a knock, mind you, just an observation, almost like drinking spirits straight as opposed to in a craft cocktail with homemade this and a laundry list of ingredients. For a medium-minus cigar it is very enjoyable, though its dryness and bite left a bit to be desired for my palate.

Overall, the Arturo Fuente Casa Cuba Doble Tres had a fairly average flavor profile, focused around heavily toasted cedar, earth and black pepper. The burn was a big detractor and I have to assume it hindered the flavor profile at some level. I'd be open to coming back to this for a better burning example to see what the flavor profile is really like, but this just wasn't a great experience.
