Arturo Fuente Cigars Don Carlos Sangre de Toro
Meaning "Bull's Blood" in Spanish, Sangre de Toro is an elusive, dark variation of the Don Carlos blend handcrafted at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia. Draped in an oily Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper over aged Dominican fillers, it offers a robust medium-to-full smoke rich with dark cacao, espresso, damp earth, and sweet pepper.

Arturo Fuente Don Carlos Sangre de Toro Sangre de Bestia No. 2
Stogie Press · Sep 12, 2026
There are certain names in the premium cigar industry that immediately command attention, and Arturo Fuente is certainly one of them. The Don Carlos line has long occupied a special place within the company’s portfolio, traditionally showcasing the marriage of Dominican tobacco with African Cameroon wrapper. The Don Carlos Sangre de Toro takes that familiar Read more about Cigar Review: Arturo Fuente Don Carlos Sangre de Toro Sangre de Bestia No. 2 – Rated 94[…]

Full disclosure: I didn't know that the Arturo Fuente Don Carlos Sangre de Toro Undefeated used a Mexican San Andrés wrapper when I smoked them, so I truly wasn't looking for any kind of profile or judging how well the cigar showed off the notes and flavors I associate with tobacco from that region. The cigar certainly has one of the richest profiles I can recall from a Fuente-made cigar, so there's that. As I alluded to above, I dont know if this is the best vitola of the bunch, only because I wonder if there's too much richness and a slightly bigger ring gauge might soften the profile just a touch, letting the Mexican tobacco still shine but offering some more complexity. Still, I like where this profile sits, both as an option for a Fuente-made cigar and on a broader basis. I'm certainly intrigued to try more sizes of this blend, as I have a feeling that there will be one that shows a really balanced, complex profile that delivers the San Andrés profile I really like and then a complement of supporting flavors that make this a really impressive cigar.

A dark cigar with a coarse wrapper and even burn. Earthy and leathery, the strong smoke is bolstered by red pepper spice, dried fruit and espresso before the finish of chocolate-covered raisin. The draw is a bit inconsistent.

This Arturo Fuente Don Carlos Sangre de Toro Raging Bull was nothing special. A cigar showing good fuller body but with too much dryness and flavors that didn't really pop. It tasted like the vast majority of Mexican San Andres in the market where it's just that dirty, gritty, earthy rawness that just isn't my jam. As such, easy pass for me.
