CAO 2020 Vision

Stogie Press · Jan 12, 2021

Now that we have departed the tumultuous year of 2020, I finally got around to picking up a new CAO 2020 Vision. Who would have known how ironic it would be to name it the 2020 Vision, a year many of us would rather forget. But we are not here to get reminiscent about 2020, Read more about Cigar Review: CAO 2020 Vision – Rated 93[…]

C.A.O. Vision Prana

Cigar Aficionado · Jan 1, 2008

C.A.O. Vision cigars are impossible to miss—they come packed in cigar boxes that resemble laptop computers, right down to a blue electronic glow that appears when the lid is opened. But don't dismiss the cigar for its over-the-top packaging. The C.A.O. Vision Prana is a serious smoke. The 6-1/4 x 52-ring cigar has some veins in its wrapper, but that's an easy concession to the heady flavor of the Dominican wrapper leaf that makes the cigar special. The cigar is earthy, woody and toasty, with roasted nuts on the palate and a pleasant medium body. The Vision is the first C.A.O. cigar— other than the Flavours by C.A.O. line—rolled in the Dominican Republic, and the first of the company's cigars to place in CIGAR AFICIONADO's Top 10.

CAO Vision

Blind Man's Puff · Apr 19, 2021 · Nov 2020

The CAO Vision, originally released in 2007 and continued a few years later, is most well-known know for its packing with a bright white box and illuminated interior. Vision was brought back in 2020 this time with a brand new blend and updated packaging. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. The blend contains tobaccos from three countries and four growing regions including a Cameroon wrapper, Ecuadorian Sumatra binder and Nicaraguan Habanos fillers from Estelí and Jalapa. The box for Vision can also be used as a humidor which uses Spanish cedar along with piano hinges along and cascading lights that illuminate the interior. CAO Vision is rolled at STG Estelí in Nicaragua and only comes in one size, a 7” x 50 Churchill. MSRP is $18.99 per cigar and only 2,500 boxes were sold in the U.S. and another 2,000 boxes in international markets such as Europe and Asia.

CAO Vision (2020)

Cigar Dojo · Jul 2, 2021

The 2020 version of the CAO Vision has some "gimmick” to it, but it is also a solid smoke. Yes, the box lights up like something out of The Fast and the Furious , and yes, it checks in at an unreasonably high price point. But the blend is solid and it offers about two hours of smoke time. The profile is good, but not great, and it lacks the “wow” you might expect from an $18.99 cigar. It’s a middle-of-the-road cigar, even if it may look like something from the movies.

CAO Vision 2020

Leaf Enthusiast · Jan 27, 2021

It’s appropriate that the CAO Vision should make a return for 2020 (2020 Vision is an excellent dad joke)…and it’s better than ever.

CAO Vision (2020)

Halfwheel · Dec 15, 2020 · November 2020

After getting past the admittedly cool packaging, there were a few adjectives that kept popping into my mind while actually smoking my three samples of the newest CAO Vision: safe, non-offensive and timid. It is also hard to deny the interesting juxtaposition between the boldness of the packaging and the actual profile of the cigar contained within, which takes almost an entire half to really hit its stride. Sure, the construction is excellent and it features an extremely well-balanced profile, but there is an obvious lack of nuance in the first half that is only partially rectified by a bit more complexity in the second half. In the end, while there are a few things I really liked about the newest CAO Vision, if you are looking to smoke a Cameroon-wrapped blend there are a number of different releases currently on the market that taste quite a bit better, cost less and are a bit easier to track down.

CAO Vision

CigarCzars · Dec 28, 2020

The new CAO Vision limited edition cigar was released in November 2020. CAO Vision is available only in the Churchill size (7 x 50), and retails for $18.99 per cigar. These cigars are made with different tobaccos than the original CAO Vision that came out in 2007. The new 2020 blend features a Cameroon wrapper, Ecuadorian Sumatra binder, and Nicaraguan Habanos filler tobaccos. For more information, please check out thepress release. The sample CAO Vision cigar began with a somewhat nondescript medium bodied tobacco flavor. There was a very subtle sweetness, a bit of spice, and a hint of nuts. The smoke was smooth and unassuming. Not a flavor bomb by any means, but still enjoyable. The CAO Vision would pair nicely with champagne, and can be enjoyed by all levels of cigar smokers, including beginners. The taste was pretty consistent throughout the duration of the smoking session, which lasted about 100 minutes down to two inches of cigar remaining. During that time, the cigar had a good draw, mostly even burn, and held a medium-to-long ash. No relights were necessary, but touch-ups were needed about every 30 minutes to keep the burn even. Although the CAO Vision did not burst with a myriad of flavors, it was still smooth and enjoyable for over an hour and a half. I enjoyed it enough to rate it with a very good 4 points on a 5-point scale. Blended with top quality premium tobaccos and having a price tag of $19 per stick, this is not a cigar that was made for beginners, although beginners would certainly enjoy it without being intimidated. Again, CAO Vision is a cigar that can be enjoyed by all levels of cigar smokers, but may not be appreciated as much by those who prefer a fuller cigar.

CAO Vision

Developing Palates · Mar 11, 2022 · November 2020

I never smoked the original so I can't say how it compares, but this CAO Vision was a fairly average experience overall. I can see it appealing to a wide range of smokers that gravitate to this basic type of profile, but I need something more to maintain my attention. With the experience I had, combined with the high price point, I don't really see myself returning to this cigar.
