Topped with a pigtail cap, this dark corona draws and burns quite evenly, imparting a toasty, spicy smoke with hints of licorice, a touch of charcoal and a tangy, fruity finish. Bold for such a small cigar.

The #5 Corojo is said to be the strongest blend in the Gran Habano profile. The blend uses a Nicaraguan Corojo wrapper, habano binder, and Nicaraguan and Costa Rican long‑leaf filler. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. The lancero vitola was not part of the original lineup of releases and did not come out until 2016 when it was release as part of La Colección de Elegancia.

Gran Habano Corojo No.5 Gran Reserva 2012 Gran Robusto

Having a pair of cigars like the Gran Habano Corojo No.5 and Corojo No.5 Gran Reserva provides a great option for any cigar enthusiast looking for two different spins on largely the same blend; smoke the former for the fuller experience or light up the latter for a much smoother yet still engaging profile, and both at a very reasonable price. While I appreciate the age of the 2012 edition of the Gran Habano Corojo No.5 Gran Reserva, there is a thought that it might be too much, nudging it just far away enough from the Corojo No.5’s core profile, though there is something to be said for experiencing what a bit more time and rest can do to a blend. Personally, I’d take some of the previous incarnations of the Gran Reserva over this one, but it’s hard to feel let down with the 2012 version as it still has plenty to offer the senses.
