In my original review, I noted being on the fence of the like/love debate when it came to the Illusione Rothchildes CT. After this redux and a handful of samples of it since, I have to say I lean more and more to the latter, more for what it is—a reliable, flavorful, and enjoyable cigar that is priced extremely well—than for any flavor descriptors I could attach to it. This is the kind of cigar you want in your humidor or at every cigar shop, as it's almost a no-brainer cigar for when it comes to something that nearly everyone can enjoy, doesn't take all day to get through, and can be savored from start to finish without imparting a nicotine hangover. I know people who have picked up handfuls or boxes after their first experience with it, and it's easy to see why.

Illusone Cigars is releasing its first Connecticut Shade Cigars. At this year’s 2016 IPCPR Trade Show, the company announced it was unveiling versions of its popular Illusione Rothchildes and Illusione Gigantes brands featuring an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. Both Illusione Rothchildes CT and Illusione Gigantes CT are the same size as its Nicaraguan puro counterparts. The Rothchildes CT measures 4/1 2 x 50 while the Gigantes CT measures 6 1/2 x 56. Both cigars are packaged in 50 count boxes. The two new offerings are being produced at Casa Fernandez’s Tabacos Valle de Jalapa S.A. (TABSA). They are a part of a series of Connecticut Shade products produced at TABSA this year.

A primarily light, herbal smoke with hints of cumin, white pepper and a touch of char. All herbal qualities recur on the finish.

This cigar smoked with the spirit that the original Rothchildes did. A rustic, not so pretty looking cigar that provided full flavors and a great smoking experience at a low price point. It is definitely one I could see going back to often and another winner for Dion and the Illusione portfolio.
