Liga Privada T52 Corona Viva

Cigar Aficionado · Jan 1, 2026

Drew Estate was once only known for “infused” cigars but that changed in 2007 with Liga Privada No. 9, Spanish for “private blend.” Prized for its power, Liga Privada was expanded in 2009 with the T52 line, which retains No. 9’s internal tobacco blend but swaps the Connecticut broadleaf wrapper for dark Connecticut Habano that has been stalk-cut—meaning the entire plant is chopped, then speared and hung in a barn. Liga Privada’s signature power is condensed in this slim Corona Viva, densely layered with notes of earth and caramel and enlivened by baking spices such as cinnamon and clove before a finish of malt and stewed white raisin.

Cigar Snob · Jan 21, 2021

The Liga Privada T52 has been a favorite at Cigar Snob HQ since its release back in 2009. It is covered with a stalk-cut Habano wrapper sun grown in Connecticut. This tobacco, while more costly because of its provenance, harvesting and curing method, unquestionably makes the T52 a unique blend worthy of this lofty ranking.

Drew Estate Liga Privada T52 Robusto

Blind Man's Puff · Jun 18, 2018 · 2009

The Liga Privada T52 was released on 2009 and was the followup to 2007’s Liga Privada No. 9. The initial vitolas available were the Robusto and Toro, later followed in 2010 by the Double Corona and Belicoso. Liga Privada climbed to legendary status a few years ago because of it’s media buzz and rarity, but luckily for consumers, it has become more readily available. Today we will be reviewing the Drew Estate Liga Privada T52 Robusto. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. The blend for the Liga Privada T52 starts with a Connecticut River Valley stalk cut and cured habano wrapper, followed by a Brazilian mata fina binder and Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers. The unique part of the T52 is it’s stalk-cut wrapper. Normally, each leaf of the tobacco plant is cut and hung in a curing barn for weeks. With stalk-cut tobacco, the entire stalk (middle part of the plant that holds the leaves on) is cut and hung in tact from the barn. This allows the stalk to provide nutrients to the leaves even after being cut, and makes for a richer more hearty tobacco leaf. This is also a more expensive process.

Liga Privada T52 Flying Pig

Halfwheel · Oct 7, 2010

I was very impressed with this cigar. It had bold, in your face flavors and a full-bodied feel but stayed relatively even keel in the strength department. It also offered a change in profile from other T52 vitolas, and that is a huge bonus for me. As much as I like the T52 better than the No. 9 traditionally I would have to say I liked the No. 9 Flying Pig better. It had more of a spice kick that I personally enjoy in my cigars. That is not to say this isn’t a good cigar, and I will be buying a few boxes when they come out.. not only is this vitola is fun to smoke, but it really satisfies with its rich profile and long burn time.

Liga Privada T52

Holt's Staff Reviews · May 9, 2025

Liga Privada T52 is blended and produced by the folks at Drew Estate in Nicaragua, and it’s been one of the company’s bestselling non-infused cigars alongside Liga Privada No. 9. I’m smoking the 6-by-52 Belicoso in the T52 for today’s review. The story goes that Drew Estate brand founder Jonathan Drew discovered an unusual crop of Cuban-seed wrapper from a tobacco farmer in the Connecticut River Valley back in 2006. This oily, reddish-brown leaf caught his attention, and after purchasing the crop, they began tweaking their popular Liga Privada No. 9 blend to create the cigar that became T52.

LIGA PRIVADA T52

Comedy Cigars Music · Aug 7, 2022

My first impression of T52 is that it’s very smooth. The draw and smoke output are a dynamic duo of excellence. Not an ambiguous duo.We start off a bit quiet, but a few more puffs bring out oak and creamy milk chocolate. Subtle but good. The finish is slightly creamy, a little ch
