Macanudo Emissary Espana

Kaplowitz · May 17, 2024

Mocha | Honey malt | Paprika Smoothly focused with some calmly vibrating out-lines. Narrow scope but echoes its own sentiment well. Mocha latte, a fuzzy honey malt, a molasses-sweetened paprika. Black bread under-pinnings. A dry savory quality, an umami reduction. Nuts and shells offer a bend-not-break structuring. Draws a bit tight a couple puffs, but corrects itself as do a couple brief lags of the line. Builds a nice sheath of ash. Gives off moderate+ plumes of white smoke, culminating in a g

Macanudo Emissary España Torpedo

Cigar Aficionado · Jan 28, 2025 · Cigar Insider

One sharp vein runs the length of this dark, oily torpedo, which draws and burns evenly. Its earthy core is brightened by touches of citrus, coffee bean, anise and oak which leave a pleasant finish of toasted nuts.

Macanudo EmissaryEspana Torpedo

CigarCzars · Nov 18, 2024

Macanudo Emissary Espana Torpedo is a box pressed limited-edition cigar made in Honduras, and is the first extension of the Emissary Espana line. The cigar is made with the same blend of tobaccos as theoriginal full-time cigarsthat were introduced back in March 2024, featuring some Havana-seed filler tobacco grown in Spain. The new box pressed Torpedo became available in October 2024, and measures 6 x 52. It is priced at $17.99 per cigar. For more information about these cigars, please see thepress release. The sample Macanudo Emissary Espana Torpedo cigar smoked very similar to, but not exactly the same as, the sample Robusto that I smoked back in March. The cigar began with a very pleasing and modestly sweet earthy tobacco flavor which was joined by a pleasant caramel aftertaste during the first 5-10 minutes. About another five minutes later, a leather flavor entered the mix, which gradually became predominate during the next 20 minutes. The smoke was medium-plus bodied and smooth and mellow, with the flavors remaining pretty much consistent during the second half of the smoking session. I ashed the cigar for the first time after 30 minutes of smoking time, and again after another 30 minutes. I smoked the cigar for another 10 minutes down to 1½ inches remaining, for a total smoke time of 70 minutes, which was 15 minutes more than the Robusto size. The cigar did not require any relights nor touch-ups, had an even burn, held a long ash, and had a very good draw. It was very well made and the construction was excellent. I smoke and enjoy all sizes and shapes of cigars, and the box pressed Torpedo just happens to be one of my favorite vitolas. However, the flavor, fullness, strength, texture and aroma of the smoke, along with the draw and burn of a cigar, are some of the most important attributes. In addition, the feel, look, size and shape of a cigar (as well as several other factors) can also influence the overall enjoyment of the smoking experience. After smoking the Macanudo Emissary Espana Robusto in March 2024, I considered it to be one of the best new cigars of 2024 (at that point in time), and rated it with an excellent 4.5 points on a 5-point scale. Although I prefer the box pressed Torpedo vitola for $3 more per cigar, I am also rating it with the same 4.5-point level of enjoyment as the Robusto. Either way, you can't go wrong.

Macanudo Emissary España

Simply Stogies · Aug 9, 2024

Macanudo Emissary España uses a harmonious five-country blend highlighted by a Havana seed grown near the town of Riolobos, Spain. The region’s rocky soil and Mediterranean climate yield a rich tobacco that cannot be replicated. Grown near olive trees and pepper fields used for paprika, the tobacco is characterized by thick, oily leaves from the...

Macanudo Emissary España Perfecto

Halfwheel · Jun 16, 2024 · March 25, 2024

While I don’t think the three cigars were completely different, there were very clear differences with the third cigar, both in how it tasted and burned. While it was nice to be able to smoke a cigar that could—at least in the first third—go four minutes in between puffs without issue, I much preferred the normal experience that the final cigar delivered. More importantly, I enjoyed the flavor profile more, which had less metallic flavor than the first two cigars. Perhaps that’s something that goes away with just a bit of aging, perhaps it’s the vitola, perhaps that’s what the Spanish tobacco brought to the table. Whatever the case, the amount of metallic flavor in the first half is what’s holding back this particular cigar from a different summary. I hope this is the start of General’s work with Spanish tobacco and the industry in a wider sense. While change isn’t always good, curiosity is a large part of what keeps the cigar world interesting to me.

MACANUDO EMISSARY ESPAÑA

Emissary introduces itself with a perfect draw, pulling cocoa butter, spice (a slightly dry jalapeño), and clean earth. Good balance. Smoke output matches the draw.Dark coffee with a dash, a very small dash, of dark chocolate drop through the retrohale. A less dark coffee and an equally very small da

Macanudo Emissary España Robusto

Developing Palates · Jun 24, 2024 · March 2024

The Macanudo Emissary España Robusto was one of the great surprises at the 2024 PCA in Las Vegas. Having smoked a show sample, I was eagerly awaiting my opportunity to review the released cigar. I am not disappointed, with restrained and balanced flavors throughout, this is a solid release in the Macanudo portfolio. I would happily smoke another Macanudo Emissary España Robusto again.
