Montecristo Classic Especial No. 1

A golden-brown lonsdale with an earthy, woody smoke underscored by notes of coffee and caramel. Richer than it looks.

Montecristo Classic

Holt's Staff Reviews · Aug 3, 2022

Montecristo Classic No. 2 is a cigar that can get overlooked – or stumbled upon by novices – with so many different Montecristo cigars available today. The Montecristo Classic blend is a richer and more refined version of the original Dominican-made Montecristo, and I’m smoking it in the lauded No. 2 size, a Torpedo that’s just over 6 inches long with a 52 ring gauge. Of course, the iconic Cuban Montecristo No. 2 is the cigar responsible for cementing the brand’s fame around the world over the past century.

Montecristo Classic No. 2

Developing Palates · Oct 2, 2026 · 2005

The Montecristo Classic No. 2 had a nice flavor profile through the first two thirds, focused around toasted cedar and earth, but the supporting notes all did a good job of balancing the profile. It took a step down in the final third as the balance went off a bit due to the earth, leather and strength. This is a nice Connecticut shade offering that offers a lower strength profile. It's fairly expensive, but if you are OK with this price range and enjoy this profile, it's well worth a try and isn't just a cigar playing off the Cuban name.
