Montecristo White Series Rothchilde

Blind Man's Puff · Nov 14, 2018 · 2007

Montecristo is one of the best known brands in the cigar world. Originally coming from Cuba, the brand is also made today in the Dominican Republic. The Montecristo White Series is one Montecristo’s flagship cigars, and a staple in many humidors forever. The blend uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut Wrapper around Nicaraguan and Dominican. They are meant to be a medium-bodied cigar. This cigar was a follow up to Altadis’ original Montecristo Yellow Label release and meant to be a little stronger. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience.

Montecristo White Churchill

Sweet and mild with a creamy smoke redolent of honey, ginger and freshly ground pepper. Its wrapper is yellowish in color and the cigar burns and draws evenly.

Agile Cigar Reviews replace what we termed “Assessment Updates”. The concept is the same, but the name is different. Agile Cigar Reviews use a lightweight, shorter format. These will never take the place of our comprehensive reviews. They are only used on blends we have previously assessed. This might be a blend we are re-scoring […]

Montecristo White

Holt's Staff Reviews · May 10, 2018

Now that we’re finally embarking upon warmer temps across the country, golf outings, barbecues, and weekends at the beach represent ideal occasions for enjoying a good cigar. It’s common for a herf or two to pop up on the calendar, too, since smoking outdoors can easily attract a crowd. As a result, it’s worthwhile to keep a handful of Cuban-legacy cigars on the radar.

Montecristo White Series Vintage Connecticut No. 3

Halfwheel · Jul 31, 2015 · August 2015

There's no doubt that the Montecristo White Series Vintage Connecticut falls on the mild side, so let's just get that out of the way. Yet it's not a truly mild cigar thanks to a surprising amount of pepper that is picked up mainly through the nose in the first half before sharing the love with the palate in the second half. There are points where it lacks a dynamic flavor profile and complexity, something that is likely attributed to both the age of the wrapper and the overall blend, but there are subtleties in there just waiting to be discovered and enjoyed. Much like any milder cigar, you could easily breeze right through this and call it bland, yet give it some attention and I think you'll find some very interesting and engaging flavors and aromas highlighted by a surprising amount of peppery strength that will keep you and your senses engaged.

Montecristo White Series - Cigar Review & BONUS AJ Fernandez, Matt Booth, Robert Caldwell The Truth, Hit & Run Chat

Kaplowitz · Jul 6, 2017

I Bit of a hesitant draw and lump'd-up shaft. Burn wobbles, re-touching ain't readily accepted. Primary notes are weak coffee/salted lemon closely delivered on Angel Food Cake and pale spice middlings. Under-belly is dirt. Draw fixes. Burn starts to self-correct. Sweet wood/hay. White pepper through-the-nose dropping flowery to palate. II Feels rather under-packed. Softens, but seams hold -- humsoever -- draw restricts. Feels damp. Ash builds to inch easily, but lilts lamely. Cream then mo' crea

Montecristo "White Series" Review: Light Riverside Summer Smoke

Klaro Cigars · Aug 1, 2026

This blend proves that not all mild-medium cigars are bland. Just take a tangy wrapper and slap some vibrant 3-year-old tobacco inside and see what happens...

Montecristo White Series

CigarCzars · Jul 13, 2023

Montecristo White Series cigars are made in the Dominican Republic with Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrappers, Nicaraguan binders, and a blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican filler tobaccos. These cigars were introduced back in 2007, and are available in several sizes including a Robusto (5 x 52) priced at more than $13 per cigar, which is the subject of this review. The Montecristo White Series Robusto began with a mild and naturally sweet tobacco flavor, along with hints of spice. The smoke was mild-to-medium bodied. Within 5-10 minutes, the flavor became creamy smooth and the spice was now a bit more noticeable, but the sweetness began to fade. Within the next 10 minutes, the body moved into the upper end of the mild-to-medium range, but not quite medium. The cigar remained pretty much consistent for the remainder of the smoke. It took me 45 minutes to smoke the Montecristo White Series Robusto down to 1½ inches remaining. During that time, the cigar had a very good draw, even burn, and held a medium-to-long ash. No relights nor touch-ups were required, and the cigar was very well made. Montecristo White Label cigars are suitable for all levels of cigar smokers, especially mainstream and beginners. They are a bit pricey at more than $13 per stick, as the Montecristo brand originated in Cuba and is very prestigious – including the Dominican version produced by Altadis without any Cuban tobacco. I rate the Montecristo White Label Robusto with a very good 4 points on a 5-point scale. Since price is always a consideration for most of us, it is best to try a few when they're on sale. For lower price alternatives in a mild-to-medium cigar, consider Macanudo as well as other brands that use Connecticut Shade wrappers in some of their blends.

Montecristo White Series Rothchilde

Developing Palates · Jul 10, 2026 · 2007

The Montecristo White Series Rothchilde started well, with a full combination of flavors, but took a step down in the second third as the pepper mellowed and some wood bitterness joined in. It took another step down in the final third as the wood bitterness ramped up and the toast became very heavy. Overall, a cigar that started with promise, but degraded through each third. The price is pretty high for the offering, but regardless of that, just based on flavor profile, not something I'd really see myself coming back to.
