While the final third was not as magical as I remember, the first and second thirds are doing a lot better. This is a great cigar, one that I would love to have a cabinet of to smoke out of every few months. It’s a great example of a complex cigar with layers of flavor. I still think I enjoy the two JJs more, but to be quite honest, this is smoking better than my beloved El Centurion Lancero.

I’m reviewing a cigar from the archives today: Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic in a traditional Toro measuring 6 inches with a 52 ring gauge. This cigar and the famous cigarmaker it’s named for, José ‘Pepin’ Garcia, aka Don Pepin, hardly need an introduction to seasoned cigar lovers. However, the Cuban Classic series debuted over fifteen years ago, and since then, Pepin Garcia has gone on to blend some of the best Nicaraguan cigars in the world.

In 2016 My Father Cigars released an exclusive Connecticut wrapped version of their Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic line for Thompson Cigar. The Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic Connecticut uses the same blend as the original Cuban Classic that has been on the market since 2006, but replaces the corojo ’99 wrapper with an Ecuadorian Connecticut. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience.
