The original My Father brand was created by Jaime Garcia to honor his father, Pepin. A year later, Pepin decided to honor his own father with an offshoot brand called My Father Le Bijou 1922. Unlike the originals, which wear an Ecuadoran cover leaf, Le Bijou 1922 cigars are darker and stronger. The blend is Nicaraguan from top to bottom, showcasing Cuban-seed wrappers that the Garcia family calls oscuro. Only one size—this torpedo—is box-pressed. Some will say that box-pressing a cigar is only an aesthetic decision. But when the Garcias took this hearty, complex blend, rolled it into a torpedo shape and then gave it a pressing, the result stood out for its ability to deliver complex notes clearly and harmoniously. The date 1922 denotes the birth year of José Garcia, the father of José "Pepin" Garcia. Le Bijou means "the jewel" in French. And this cigar is emblematic of all the Garcia family has achieved. Pepin started as a roller in Cuba before emigrating to Miami and eventually opening up a tiny rolling gallery in Little Havana. Commercial and critical acclaim for his cigars allowed expansion into Nicaragua. Today, Pepin, Jaime and Janny Garcia lead My Father Cigars, and their factory in Estelí produces millions of cigars a year. Despite rapid growth, the family still takes great care in producing cigars of quality and distinction, which shows in this My Father Le Bijou 1922 Torpedo Box Pressed. It takes a profound understanding of cigar tobaccos to create a smoke that conveys uncanny impressions of dark chocolate-covered raisins, savory leather and a sweet-and-salty finish that resonates on the palate. This cigar has an ideal combination of power and finesse to make it No. 1. It's the second Cigar of the Year for the Garcias.

I’m smoking a rare cigar from My Father called Le Bijou 1922 100 Años Limited Edition. It’s handcrafted in a 5.5-by-48 Corona Extra size. This is only the second batch of Le Bijou 100 Años cigars released by the folks at My Father. The first shipment came out in 2022 when the cigar was blended by José ‘Pepin’ Garcia to honor what would have been the 100th birthday of his father, José Garcia Alayón. My Father Le Bijou 1922 100 Años is blended from a dark Habano Oscuro wrapper leaf grown in Ecuador.Read full review on Holt's Staff Reviews

The last release of the Le Bijou 1922 100 Años was in 2022 and it has been revived for a second time in 2024. Le Bijou 1922 was a cigar that was created to honor José García Alayón, the father of José “Pepín” García. The year 1922 is his birth year so it was fitting...

The ultra-flavorful My Father Le Bijou 1922 was an instant hit when it was released in 2009. The toro scored a 92 that year, a rating that would have qualified it for Top 25 consideration but sadly we were not compiling a list back then. This year, its 92 score in the July/August 2023 issue brings this masterpiece some well-deserved recognition.

Not every cigar released in celebration of a milestone anniversary, birthday or event lives up to the expectations, but the My Father Le Bijou 1922 100 Años LE2022 Corona Especial does so and then some. It's an almost signature José “Pepín” García blend profile, in that it starts fast and strong, hitting the senses with tons of rich flavors and pepper, backs off for a bit, and then ramps things up again for a strong finish. It also does so with incredible construction and combustion, both of which are near flawless. As long as you and your palate like big flavors, this cigar is a no-brainer and one I expect to see do well on a number of cigar of the year lists.

Chocolate | Espresso | Spiced grains Of course, you get that Pepin ground black and red flake pepper blast in the first few puffs. That clears into a molasses-heavy but not cloying sweetness. Chocolate is a primary note existing somewhere between chocolate bread and burnt brownie corner. Also, a segment of that gets a rye grain coffee bean attachment that scans there as Russian black bread. All along, the cocoa is decadently supple, nuanced, and complex--as is the rest of the profile. Spices: cu

That predictable My Father spice hits first thing, followed quickly by a dash of creamy milk chocolate. Spice coats the palate on the finish until the next puff. Light coffee and cardamom dance through the retrohale. Not a breakdance. Maybe a waltz.Perfect draw, and smoke fills the room in a hurry.Burn tends to wander off here

Finally, a limited edition cigar that smokes like a limited edition cigar should smoke. What a fantastic cigar. Balanced and beautiful. Great draw and burn. Best cigar I have smoked in 2022. I could go on and on about this My Father Le Bijou 1922 100 Años Limited Edition Corona Especial. Great size. The creaminess with the pepper, leather and earth. Amazing! Well done!
