Short and squat, this box-pressed cigar is excellently constructed with a cover leaf that’s silky to the touch. It’s a tangy, woody smoke with a big note of cocoa powder, detailed by hints of wheat and touches of cinnamon. The finish is toasty and nutty.

Oscar Valladares ’ story is as impressive today as when he first shared it with us and the 2012 line plays a key role in it. The company’s most popular brand, Leaf by Oscar was born out of the 2012. In its original inception, the 2012 box contained one cigar covered in a rustic leaf. That concept eventually became the Leaf by Oscar.

Spice hits hard and coats the palate right out of the gate. Sweet earth, mixed nuts, and a touch of chocolate break through the spice. Sweet earth and some chocolate flow through the nose. Not much spice there. Nose hairs remain unsinged. The finish holds on to spice, earth, and the thinnest coat of chocolate.Excellent draw and smok
