Partagas Cigars de Bronce
The historic first Partagas crafted in the United States, Partagas de Bronce is handcrafted by master torcedores at El Titan de Bronze in Miami's Little Havana. Finished with a classic Cuban-style pigtail cap under an oily Nicaraguan Corojo wrapper, this medium-to-full smoke reveals cracked black pepper, bright citrus, baking spices, cedar, and earth.

Back in March of this year, General Cigar the Partagas de Bronce, the latest in a series of collaborations with El Titán de Bronze Cigar Factory. This marks the first Partagas cigar produced in America. Partagas de Bronce follows the Cohiba Serie M and La Gloria Cubana Eighth Street as cigars made for the General by El Titán de Bronze. The cigar’s name comes from the Spanish spelling of bronze, “bronce” in tribute to the origins of Partagas and El Titan de Bronze. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. Partagas de Bronce was blended by STG’s Justin Andrews and El Titán de Bronze’s Sandy Cobas along with her blending team. The blend uses a Nicaraguan Corojo wrapper, and Nicaraguan binder and filler, making it a Nicaraguan puro. Partagas de Bronce hit shelves in April of this year and production was limited to 5,000 boxes. Each box comes with 10 cigars and is signed by the El Titán de Bronze cigarmaker who rolled them. The cigar comes in just one vitola, a Corona Gorda that measures 6.25” x 46 and sells for $22.99.

This is one of those cigars where just about every aspect seems to hit the right notes: the packaging is fantastic, the vitola is wonderful, the blend is extremely well-balanced and the profile is full of nuance and complexity. The only major issue I could find was the construction, which was problematic enough on all three cigars to leave quite a bit to be desired. Having said that, I absolutely love the dichotomy between the spice and black pepper that is present on my tongue and retrohale, respectively, and the creaminess on the palate and the caramel sweetness on the retrohale. Even when taking the not-so-great construction and the price point into account, this is a very, very good cigar and is easily worth the effort and money to track down for yourself.

The Partagas de Bronce is a limited collaboration between Partagas and El Titán de Bronze, the legendary factory in Little Havana, Miami, founded by Cuban exile Sandy Cobas. The cigar was blended jointly by STG’s product development manager Justin Andrews and Cobas herself, marking the first time Partagas has partnered with an outside […]

Partagas de Bronce’s collaboration with El Titán de Bronze brought some very nice flavors, but I feel that what was most significant was construction, and it should be applauded. This cigar boasted exceptional, traditionally hand-crafted construction—precisely what one expects from a premium cigar of this caliber. The flavors were very delicate, but the salty peanut/almond with the spice brought a unique Thai peanut sauce experience. This was a fun collaboration to smoke; one that lacked a little on flavor but delivered on construction.

Though attractive in appearance, this toro has a slightly firm draw that imparts a grassy and vegetal smoke with elements of wood and citrus before a bitter finish. Some inconsistency was noted on the burn.

The Partagas de Bronce Corona Gorda started out with some interesting flavors in the first third, centered around floral and lavender components. As the cigar progressed, the profile became more linear and average. Given the ultra premium price point, I was expecting more from the flavor profile, so this is something I wouldn't return to based on my experience.
