Draped in an inky-hued cover leaf, this box-pressed toro has a lush draw and even burn that offers substantial notes of hazelnut, crushed red pepper, earth and some coffee bean. Touches of dried fruits such as raisin and blackberry come through as well. A hint of clove appears on the long, spicy finish.

When a company releases more than one cigar for an anniversary, I find it interesting, especially if one of those releases is a limited edition with a different blend. I found the main flavor combination of cocoa nibs and earth in the Rocky Patel Thirtieth Anniversary Limited Edition to be enjoyable, but there were times when the amount of spice became slightly problematic when it came to the overall balance. In addition, each of the cigars needed multiple burn corrections, although the draw resistance and smoke production were excellent. Yes, I have enjoyed some of the previous Rocky Patel anniversary releases a bit more, but if you are a fan of earthy blends with a punch, this is a cigar you should try.
