I decided to revisit The Tabernacle recently with this Lancero vitola…and I’m glad I did…this cigar is amazing!

Back in October, Foundation Cigar Company announced the release of two new extensions to their famed “The Tabernacle” line of cigars. A big part of the company’s portfolio, “The Tabernacle” blend prominently features Connecticut broadleaf tobacco. Foundation Cigars owner, Nicholas Melillo, has a deep connection, as a native son, to Connecticut soil where this special Read more about Cigar Review: Foundation Cigars The Tabernacle David – Rated 97[…]

Fact is the top three selling cigar sizes are Robusto, Toro, and Gordo. But if you look on social media it would appear the top-selling cigar sizes are Corona and Lancero. Today we review the Tabernacle Lancero.Read full review on The Cigar Authority
The Tabernacle David
Halfwheel · Jan 30, 2023 · October 2020
When I smoked The Tabernacle David a little over two years ago, I noted that it was a good but not flawless cigar, driven by earthiness with highlights of sweetness, though with spots that can cause a bit of irritation. The good parts of the cigar are still there and in the case of this one cigar, are now better than I remember them, while there was almost no irritation from start to finish. What really caught my attention was the incredibly enjoyable and engaging experience in the first third when flavors seem to be getting rapidly layered upon another as the cigar reached its full ring gauge. The midway point slows those changes but the cigar still has a pair of pivots in its future, largely with the introduction and departure of sweetness and then a shift to a dry, woody and peppery finish. Retrohales were also very good and beneficial to the overall experience, while construction was fantastic across the board. It appears that in the case of the cigar smoked for this redux, time was definitely beneficial, as this fairly small cigar delivers a big experience without needing to deliver a knockout blow.

Foundation Cigar Co. finally gives into consumer demand and offers a rich, Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro blend—on par with the world-famous cigars that proprietor Nick Melillo has become known for. The Tabernacle features an enticing backstory and a statistically solid blend, coupled with a refreshingly fair price tag that will attract “value smokers” and “luxury smokers” alike. The line showcases primarily thin vitolas that cater towards “craft junkies” and connoisseurs; and of the sizes smoked for review (Corona, Robusto, Toro), the Corona offered the biggest and most complex flavors. Altogether, a full and satisfying smoke that proves Melillo has much more to offer—even when playing with the familiar ingredients that won cigar enthusiasts over in the beginning.

I’m smoking The Tabernacle from Foundation Cigars in a 5-by-50 Robusto for today’s review. Brand owner Nick Melillo launched Foundation in 2015 after spending over a decade working for Drew Estate in Estelí, Nicaragua, where he oversaw the company’s tobacco procurement, eventually serving as vice president of the international operations.Read full review on Holt's Staff Reviews
The Tabernacle Lancero
Cigar Aficionado · Dec 1, 2021
Slightly bowed with an inky-black wrapper. First puffs are sweet and leathery, ushering in a bold core of coffee-bean that intensifies, along with notes of spice, wood and molasses. The draw and burn are even throughout.

Foundation Cigar Co., as expected by most, creates a tasty Connecticut Broadleaf cigar. This is a good example of what a Connecticut Broadleaf cigar should be; chewy and dirty, medium full / full bodied cigar.
