Tatuaje Cigars Escasos
A ultra-limited small-batch project translating to "scarce" in Spanish, Escasos is rolled exclusively in Miami and Estelí under Pete Johnson's direct supervision. Wrapped in a prime Ecuadorian Habano leaf enclosing select estate Nicaraguan long-fillers, it provides an extraordinarily refined medium-to-full smoke marked by roasted peanuts, sweet cedar, rich earth, toast, and baking spices.

I must admit that I am a bit wary when it comes to putting new wrappers on existing cigars, especially on ones that are already quite good. Thankfully, the Tatuaje Escasos HC manages to do it successfully, giving the cigar a bit milder strength and flavor profile and leading with more of a peanut note than I recall the original having. There's still the concern about the final third, as I'm hoping the burn issues that I experienced were an isolated issue that will resolve themselves with a bit more time and rest. But the net result of the change is an overall positive, and one I look forward to hopefully enjoying more of and in the full HUNTER range of vitolas.

The Tatuaje Escasos H had an average flavor profile throughout, focused around toasted cedar and dry earth. While the flavor profile was smooth with lower strength, the dry earth kind of dampened the other flavors, which I believe didn't allow it to shine as it could have. Not a cigar that really excites me and not something I'd likely to return to.
