To put it simply, wow. The Tatuaje Karloff caught my attention nearly from the moment I lit the first sample and kept it all the way until the final puff of the third cigar. The first half earns the word sublime, while the second halves are all enjoyable if a very different spin on the tobaccos, which in itself is an impressive feat of blending to get two different yet complementary expressions of flavors. Give this cigar a clean palate, clear head and focused attention and it will reward you handsomely. A brilliant cigar.

The Tatuaje Jason JV13, part of the esteemed Tatuaje Monster Series, pays tribute to the iconic horror figure Jason Voorhees from “Friday the 13th.” The series is known for its unique thematic inspirations and, in 2023, it expanded, in a very limited manner, with the introduction of the SNS Mini Jason JV13. This new cigar, designed exclusively for members of the Tatuaje Sinners & Saints (SNS) club, adopts a compact format with its dimensions set at 4 inches in length by a 50 ring gauge, providing a shorter and more compact smoking experience. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. Crafted with a dark Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper that envelops a core of Nicaraguan binder and fillers, the SNS Mini Jason JV13 mirrors the original’s full-bodied intensity and complex flavor profile in a smaller package.

Tatuaje The Krueger

For Tatuaje's highly-anticipated release of its annual Monster Series, the brand introduced The Krueger for 2016—the 9th installment in the growing collection of monster/horror-based cigars. Unlike Freddy Krueger, the monster for which this release is based, The Krueger requires your full conscious state for best results... (you know we had to work a pun in there somewhere). The cigar is only the second in the series to utilize the increasingly popular varietal of Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper. The Krueger features a large, box-pressed vitola that makes for a very long smoking experience. Flavors are intricate and abundant, although occasionally challenging to decipher. A perfect draw is contrasted by low smoke output and construction is surprisingly on-point for the cigar's large stature. The final quarter is the only real downside (apart from the price), requiring multiple relights and offering primarily harsh and ashy notes.
