Viaje Cigars Black & White
Inspired by the classic yin-yang balance of dual wrapper styles, Viaje Black & White is handcrafted at the Aganorsa Leaf factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. Combining Connecticut and San Andrés tobaccos over an all-Nicaraguan core, this full-bodied smoke delivers contrasting harmony filled with bittersweet dark chocolate, espresso, fertile earth, black pepper, and leather.

Viaje Black and White Connecticut (2020)
Cigar Coop · Feb 18, 2021
Throughout its history, if there is one type of cigar that was missing from Viaje Cigars’ portfolio, it was a Connecticut Shade cigar. I’ve interviewed Viaje founder Andre Farkas several times, and I’ve asked him the question multiple times on when he was going to release a Connecticut Shade cigar. Andre’s answer could be summed […] Key flavors: Cream, Natural Tobacco, Cedar, Citrus, Pepper.

Growing up in NY, we had plenty of local bakeries that made some of the best donuts, pastries, bread, and cookies I have ever had. When it came to cookies, one stands out famously, the Black and White. It was large cookie that had one half iced with chocolate and the other half with vanilla. The Viaje Black and White Connecticut starts off with seemingly all intentions of delivering a different profile than most Viaje releases, dabbling in the lighter, milder flavors associated with Connecticut, but ultimately the blend seems called back to the brand's roots of offering fuller cigars. By the midway point, the notions of this being a Connecticut-forward blend are almost completely dashed, leaving me wondering just what I would think this was if I didn't know anything about it. That said, it is enjoyable if not revolutionary, and I must once again advise some caution with the wrapper due to its fragility. But were I to see one at a shop, I can't say I'd pass it over, if nothing less simply to see how the Viaje portfolio continues to evolve and grow.
