There's a sweet tea quality to this long cigar, complemented by a graham cracker note. It picks up some intensity as it goes, developing a strong, coffee-like finish.

AVO Classic Belicoso

Back in January, AVO Cigars announced that the Belicoso size in their AVO Classic line was returning. The Belicoso was last made in 2005 and comes back as a limited production of 2,000 boxes of 25 cigars being sold only in the United States. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. The blend uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut Sun Grown wrapper, and Dominican binder and fillers. It is described as mild-to-medium strength. The Classic Belicoso measures 6 x 48. Each cigar sells for $12.00.

AVO Classic Covers 2015 Volume 2

I hate to say this about the AVO Classic Covers 2015 Volume 2, but I like it. It’s a well-balanced, near perfectly constructed cigar with plenty of enjoyable flavors, measured strength and a packaging design that earns every bit of praise that can be heaped upon it. What I want to say is that I love it, but the flavor evolution and complexity just wasn’t there for me. It certainly tried at points, and it did nothing to turn me off from what it had to offer, but it never got the proverbial hook set and reeled me in. It’s certainly a stick worth trying if it fits your budget, profile and size preference, though I don’t think you’ll be too regretful if this ends up being one that got away.

AVO Classic Belicoso

I am not one of those guys that is crazy about the Avo Classic line. However, the AVO Classic Belicoso is lightyears better than the other vitolas in the line and I would revisit quite frequently. There is complexity, depth and transitioning throughout. Great to see them bring back this cigar, even if it is for a short time.
