Blind Man's Puff · Jun 6, 2018
Diesel Whiskey Row is the latest cigar from Diesel and General Cigar and AJ Fernandez. It is a collaboration with the relatively new distellery Rabbit Hole Bourbon. The cigar iteslf is blended by AJ Fernandez. What makes this cigar special is the binder leaves that were aged in bourbon barrels, using a proprietary process developed by AJ to enhance the profile of the cigar. The Bourbon barrels from Rabbit Hole Distillery arrived at Tabalacera AJ Fernandez in Esteli, Nicaragua back in 2016 and the binder leave have been aging there until rolling. AJ placed the Mexican San Andres binder in the barrels in a special configuration proprietary to the factory. The tobacco was aged inside the barrels, and the amount of air inside was controlled at regular intervals. This blend uses tobaccos from the Ometepe, Condega, and Jalapa regions of Nicaragua. Each of these leaves has been aged for 5 to 8 years and finished with the bourbon barrel-aged Mexican leaf. Finishing off the blend is the Ecuadorian Habano wrapper that was aged for 5 years. The cigar will launch later this month.Read full review on Blind Man's Puff

Agile Cigar Reviews are cigar assessments where we use a lightweight, shorter format. These will never take the place of our comprehensive reviews. They are only used on blends we have previously assessed. This might be a blend we are re-scoring or giving a score for the first time. It might be a blend we […] Key flavors: Oak, Cream, Sweet Natural Tobacco, Pepper, Char, Earth.

The earthy, chocolate notes of this cigar frame a hearty core of wood and cedar, all combining for a finish of bread and brown sugar.

Diesel Raceking cigars are made in Nicaragua with an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, a Raceking Founder’s Collection Bourbon barrel-aged Nicaraguan binder, and a blend of Nicaraguan filler tobaccos. Diesel Whiskey Row Founder’s Collection Raceking is the fifth limited-edition cigar made in collaboration with Rabbit Hole Whiskey. These cigars were released in May 2025 (in time for the Kentucky Derby) and are available in one Toro (6 x 52) size priced at $15.99 per stick. For more information about these cigars, please see thepress release. The sample Diesel Founder's Collection Raceking cigar began with a full earthy flavor along with just the right touch of natural tobacco sweetness. Within the first five minutes, a very pleasant nutty flavor joined the mix. I ashed the cigar for the first time after 15 minutes since lighting up. At this point, the body began moderating just a bit to the upper end of the medium-to-full range but the flavors were still full, very enjoyable, well-balanced and not overpowering. After another 15 minutes, the ash fell off by itself. At this point, the flavors started to become a little less intense, but were still very enjoyable. I rate the first 30 minutes of the smoking session with an excellent 4.5 points on a 5-point scale. At the 45-minute mark, I ashed the cigar for the third time as the flavors continued to moderate, but there wasn't any big drop-off. I continued smoking the Diesel Raceking Toro for another 15 minutes until there were just 1½ inches of the cigar remaining, after a total smoke time of 60 minutes. I rate the second half of the cigar with a superior rating of 4.25 points. During the entire smoking session, the cigar had a great draw, even burn and held a long ash. No relights nor touch-ups were needed. I found the Diesel Founder's Collection Raceking Toro to be a very well-made and great tasting cigar. Although the flavors moderated just a bit during the second half, it was still a superior to excellent smoke overall. These cigars are not just for horse races, and can be enjoyed anytime of year, especially with some Kentucky Bourbon. They are limited-edition smokes that are are worth a try while still available.

Chocolate malt | Earth/Suede | Raisins (golden, spiced) Fusty(fungal), perhaps. Dusty(earthen), for certain. Suede layers therein. Folds? Chocolate malt swirls. The above/ italicized raisin thing. Very consistent, approachable. Graphite back-end. Bit dry palate.

The Diesel Whiskey Row Founder’s Collection Mizunara starts off with one of the more unique flavor profiles I've come across recently, one I'm still not quite sure how I would best describe other than having it be both spirit and barrel, separate enough to be distinguishable and yet intertwined enough to feel cohesive. It's a profile that immediately caught my attention and led me to wonder just what the rest of the cigar would have to offer. That flavor never repeated, though the barrel wood does make frequent appearances, but the rest of the cigar offers plenty to like. The earthiness brings along some rich chocolate notes before turning more robust in the second half, while the pepper varies in its expressions and intensities to keep my senses on their toes. All in all, a very enjoyable cigar, with my only request being more appearances from that distinctive opening flavor.

I would hate to characterize Diesel Whiskey Row as misleading, but what I will say, for the third time, is that you will not get traditional bourbon sweetness from this cigar. The cigar is well-balanced, complex, and produces a nice amount of smoke. While the robusto exhibits a diverse amount of sweetness, it is not decadent , but puts out a good amount of flavor. The flavors, while varied, work cohesively.

Raceking’s easy draw. They’re joined by earth and a touch of sugary sweetness and spice. Spice and cashew butter hang well together on the finish. Cashew tends to take top spot on the retrohale, allowing earth to fill in a very small gap. I dig cashews. No com

Developing Palates · Jul 13, 2018 · June 2018
The flavor profile of the Diesel Whiskey Row Robusto is very much in line with the profile that would compliment pairing with a whiskey or bourbon. The strength level isn't much more than medium, so someone wouldn't be overpowered by it and it wouldn't overpower the spirit. I could see this cigar doing well with the casual smoker/spirit enthusiast.
